This will bomb.

Don't you think?

Even though it's been getting promoted all over the place, yeah, there's a good chance it will flop. Plus the reviews are already in - they're unsurprisingly far from great.

Still, it would be nice if it made a profit.

Saban should just put the show back on television where it belongs.

If the movie were a hit, he sure as hell isn't going to bother with TV anytime soon. :)

I'm gonna give it a shot nonetheless. The "surprisingly good" reviews from both non-Power Rangers fans and people who grew up with the series are good enough for me. And honestly, I got a bit excited when the movie was first announced.

You do know that it has never really left TV, right?

During production of this film they had the Dino Charge series coming to its conclusion to make way for a new series titled Ninja Steel. And before those there have been MANY other iterations over the years.

Maybe do a little research....

It will be bomb? Lol I hope so. I err on the side of hoping it'll be okay.

reply

Well... surprise!

It's performing above expectations coming in in second place after the global hit that is Beauty and the Beast. It could earn its production budget in the US, and I expect it'll do very well overseas. So, we might have a hit here.

As for its mixed reception, considering many thought this was going to be a total disaster, all I can say is... go, go Power Rangers! :D

Update: turns out its impressive opening weekend wasn’t the end all be all (of course!). :P While still not a complete flop like many predicted it would be, if there's hope for a sequel then we now have to count on successful home video sales (supposedly the merchandising sales have also been an enormous success).

My theater was sold out

Not bad! It still needs to make its money back though. You know films always dip in their 2nd weekend.

I heard this movie was good, was it?

reply

It was really corny and it also bombed since it had a 110 million budget and has barely made 135 million worldwide.

Fantastic Four made more money than this POS.

I'd rate Power Rangers a 4/10.

reply

It only made $142m on a $100m production budget so, yes, it definitely bombed.

There goes any chances for a sequel. I'm glad because the movie wasn't as great as I had anticipated. They took too much time to build the characters up. There just wasn't enough action sequences. Even when they got around to it, it blew chunks. The ones in the original show were more entertaining.

I give it 5/10. At least they tried to make it as cheesy and campy as the original. It just didn't appeal to me as a fan of the original show.
