Looks Painful To Watch

they were much better together in Mr & Mrs Smith. The trailer alone makes me cringe. Her range is limited. Always forceful, on the edge, same mannerisms as in GIA. I don't see myself spending money to watch this movie. And as far as Cleopatra goes...she is no Luz Taylor and would do good to stop the obvious comparisons. Not impressed at all.

Yeah, I'm a big Angelina fan and I still think this movie looks like *beep*. I'm getting such a bad Swept Away vibe.

This movie looks absolutely boring and horrible. I can't imagine why anyone would want to watch this dreck.

I hope people don't wander into this expecting to see Ron Howard's Moby Dick movie. "On the (fooking) Sea."

I saw the previews and the film looked underwhelming, however I usually enjoy both of their work, so I gave it a chance. At times it felt so uncomfortably forced, it was almost painful to watch. While I think both of them are very talented and I think their careers will soar as they always have, I was left disappointed and wanting more of something. The artistic value and style is there, but again it feels unnatural and waning. It felt like both of them were holding back. Perhaps subsequent viewings will change my mind. I always try to give films a second, third or even fourth chance. :-)

Don't do it. Not worth it. Do not waste your time, like I did.

I agree totally. I wasted 1 hour and 10 minutes. When they started eating dinner by the peep hole that was it for me....creeepy, pathetic people. And not just the story and actors but the writer and director. My opinion of both of them has hit bottom.

I don't mind pain; emotional pain is good for the soul - it's boredom that I'm worried about...

It IS painful to watch; but in the way you mean. It's sometimes hard to look at the two of them in this movie, because not too long ago they were a flawlessly beautiful couple. Now both Angelina and Brad are not looking so great. I give Angie credit for doing a film where she refers to herself as "old," and shows herself in a less than flattering way. she has announced that this will be her last screen appearance, which I find sad as well. Hollywood is brutal in this way. But Jolie is lucky, because she happens to be a very good director. "By the Sea" is a very well-made film on all technical levels, and her film "Land of Blood & Honey" which she directed but did not appear in, is absolutely excellent. I like her directorial style, as it is as 'un-Hollywood" as you can get. In every way her two directed features are completely European in style..and that is a good thing.
