Similar movie?

I feel like I have watched this movie before? Was there a similar movie last year?

It wouldn't surprise me at all because Hollywood rarely has something original, and for those youngsters who applaud what they consider something new, they haven't been around long enough to have viewed enough films. Hollywood has a problem, I call it "near-plagiarism" OK, I just made that up, but consider how even a moderately successful movie at the box office suddenly creates a flurry of the same movie with similar themes, and identical plots. Look at the all the zombie-themed films, I'm just sick to death of even hearing about them. Have they been done before? Look no further than the "Night of The Living Dead" (1968) filmed less than a mile from my house by the way. I'm just saying, there's too many ripoffs, and it only gets worse because there's too many Movie Production Companies, not only in Hollywood but elsewhere in North America, more cropping up all the time, not to mention Foreign Language Film production companies (which of course are Domestic lots to them) and take into account the number of Cable Stations there are now (Comcast has about 1,500, counting duplicates too, so maybe 1/2 of that total) and so just look at the sheer number of peoples trying to make money in the movie industry. Or look at Rocky, how many were there? 6 or 7, and so count the number of movies, the Bourne franchcise or Star Wars would be other examples, and I rarely go to see a sequel because to me, a sequel is simply 1/2 of a 4 hour movie, innit? I know, it's a rather simplistic way of looking at things, but would you really want to pay - assuming you's even want to "binge-watch" - all of the Star Wars films, if you had to pay the Box Office price, after you've just completed an episode? Me, I'd hesitate because if I already saw the ORIGINAL Star Wars, then anything after that would just be a longer version of the original, with a few new bells and whistles.
I couldn't wait to see "Fury" on TV (I no longer go to see movies at the theater, I'd rather wait to see it at home) and I realized that it didn't play at many theaters because it came on television rather quickly. "Fury" disappointed me for several reasons, but primarily because the characters were developed too quickly, and there were too many story lines, and it dawned on me that it seemed to be at points a typical "anti-war Hollywood propaganda" flick showing the seedier side of soldiers in war.

Perhaps, The Debt with Dame Helen Mirren and Jessica Chastain.

I succeeded by saying what everyone else is thinking. Joan Rivers

Having both REMEMBER and THE RAILWAY MAN I can say that the plots are very similar.

reply

Agreed--I was just looking up the synopsis for "Remember" and was thinking the same thing!

AndyG1973: No. The only movies that can be compared with it in any meaningful way are "The Debt," "The Crying Game," "The Sixth Sense," and earlier films by its brilliant director, Atom Egoyan, particularly "Excelsior."

There was movie called Angel Heart, released in 1987 i think, that had a similar twist and plot, if my memory serves me correct. Stars a younger Mickey Rourke but an excellent film.
