Nearly unwatchable.

Matt was cringy as well at points. I don't think this movie will age well.

His character was much funnier in the book. The scene was not cringe worthy either.

However, the gravity assist method should have been one of the first things they considered, not something that only one person thought of.

he was weirdly effeminate and a overly theatrical. Haven't read the book or anything so not sure if the character is like this in the book.

In the book he was socially awkward. Had they written the script directly from the book it would have been funnier. In fact most of the funny stuff from the book did not make it into the movie.
