I don't often write reviews, but I am gonna make an exception for "Blood Father":

Wow, this movie was AWFUL! Terrible acting, mediocre directing and an unrealistic plot. I really enjoyed the Mesrine movies, but this flick is just not up to the standard you would expect.

I don't know what the worst part is, the total lack of realism, the shallow and dumb dialogue, the cliches and predictability, or the feeling that the director is rushing through the movie, as if he wants to rip off a band aid. Actually the best part about this movie is its short run-time of 1.28h.

I feel insulted as a viewer, that they feed me this crap and waste 1,5 hours of my life.

Do yourself a favour and don't watch this movie. You will regret it.

I agree it's a mediocre film. If it weren't for Mel Gibson's amazing acting, this would be even more dull.

So what you're saying is that you have to agree with the majority to be entitled to have an opinion? What is even the point of reviewing movies in that case? Also, it's a totally different type of film. You can't compare what I think of a sci-fi horror movie to an action-thriller. I know Alien sits in high regard by most people, but it's not my cup of tea. I can understand why people are weak for it though, that is more than I can say for Blood Father.

So you'd rather watch an amoral narcissist glamorized for murdering a bunch of innocent people than see a lifelong loser find redemption for himself and his daughter, eh?

Guess we just have a different outlook on life and find different things entertaining.

Self-absorbed d-bags are just not as interesting to watch for 90 minutes (or 3+ excruciating hours, in the case of Mesrine) as redemption stories.

I thought the Mesrine movies had a more interesting plot, was better directed, better acted and was thoroughly more entertaining. It doesn't mean I support narcissistic behaviour and/or criminal activity or whatever you mean by "different outlook on life".

In your opinion the Godfather movies are bad? Casino? Goodfellas? Pulp Fiction? Because they are about narcissistic, criminal murderers?

Godfather I & II, great. Even III was interesting conceptually, if not as good as the others. In #1 you have a guy who will do anything for his family. In #2 you have the family's next generation turning on itself. And in #3 the family has turned so corrupt it becomes incestuous. Some great filmmaking and also very sharp criticism of capitalism.

Casino & Goodfellas, much less so, in my opinion.

Pulp Fiction was entertaining, but nobody is going to confuse it with a serious study into the human condition, or biting criticism of American values.

Mesrine? Neither entertaining, nor particularly insightful.
