I don't often write reviews, but I am gonna make an exception for "Blood Father":

Wow, this movie was AWFUL! Terrible acting, mediocre directing and an unrealistic plot. I really enjoyed the Mesrine movies, but this flick is just not up to the standard you would expect.

I don't know what the worst part is, the total lack of realism, the shallow and dumb dialogue, the cliches and predictability, or the feeling that the director is rushing through the movie, as if he wants to rip off a band aid. Actually the best part about this movie is its short run-time of 1.28h.

I feel insulted as a viewer, that they feed me this crap and waste 1,5 hours of my life.

Do yourself a favour and don't watch this movie. You will regret it.

couldn't agree more! complete tosh, embarrassingly bad acting, i haven't watched a such a long line of cliches and unsophisticated story telling for some time!

Totally agree...and just ignore the retards who think that if you like a comedy better you can compare it with a super serious action thriller...the retards just getting more and more these days..but dont pay them attention gard_86

Couldn't agree more. One cliche after another. The dialogue is insanely bad. And to see at the end that it's based on a book?! A book that has all of 9 reviews on Amazon I might add.
Wouldn't surprise me if some of your attackers were attached to the film (as I'm sure you've already assumed).

I personally loved the movie so I do disagree with your review.

What made the acting terrible? What made the directing mediocre? I'm not sure what you mean by the unrealistic plot because most movies have unrealistic plots. Do you hate movies like Lord of the Rings and Avengers because they have unrealistic plots, too? Do you hate Star Wars or the Rambo series because of their 'total lack of realism'?

I didn't really think the dialogue was any more shallow or dumb than other movies in this genre so can you explain what you mean by that? Cliches and predictability I can sort of agree with but then again what else could you possibly be expecting from a movie like this?

And lastly, what did you mean by having the director rush through the movie? You said the it felt like he rushed through the movie and yet you're saying the best part about the movie is its short run time. So how exactly did you feel about the run time because it seems to me you're contradicting yourself.

Anyways, I respect your opinion that you didn't like it but without explaining your points I really don't see why you didn't like it.

It's hard to describe what makes acting terrible, other than saying that I was constantly reminded that the actors were in fact acting. Poorly. Just didn't seem like they gave an effort.

When it comes to the directing, the pacing was all rushed and I think it was sloppy cutting. I thought it was hard to follow the story.

You can't compare an action thriller set in the real world with fantasy or sci fi movies that are obviously set in another universe. What I mean when I say unrealistic is that the characters are making stupid decisions nobody irl would to. And that makes the whole plot unbelievable.

I think the dialogue was more shallow and dumb than other movies, how can I elaborate on that? I'm not gonna torture myself with watching the movie again to give you examples.

I expect some kind of originality or at least do the make the cliches interesting.

How am I contradicting myself? It felt like the director made a 3 hour movie and cut it down into incoherent pieces that were poorly cut. Ironically, because of that I'm glad it was so short, so I wouldn't have to sit through any more than necessary.

I don't understand why anyone would like it, so we have to agree to disagree :)

PS. Everyone is complaining I don't go into details on why I didn't like it, but no one seems to go into details on the contrary neither. Would love to hear what makes this movie so great.

It wasn't that bad.
Ok it is far from perfect, but at least you see real action instead of CGI and green screen stuff (probably was some in it, but if i don't notice it: fine by me!).
What did piss me off, is once again the use of that green/yellowish filter added in post. It gives me that 'direct to video' feeling.
Other then that it is just an old school 80's action movie.
