I kinda agree with you... and that's one of the reasons why I found the movie pretty bad.
Nate Wolff isn't a bad actor, I found him okay in Stuck in Love, and he's okay in there too, given the material, but that's it, girls are gonna find him cute, dudes are gonna think he's bland because he doesn't have enough charisma to play anything intense, and he doesn't have that "cool" factor John Cusack had in the 80s.
Cara Delevingne's problem isn't her eyebrows, whether we like it or not. I don't mind, personally, since I find Lily Collins gorgeous. No, Delevingne's problem is that she lacks charisma. Painfully. With her and the bad writing, the movie's attempt to make her feel Q's fascination towards Margo is an epic failure. Penny Lane in Almost Famous, yes. Sam in The Perks, yes. Her ? Didn't feel a thing.
Some say that Shailene Woodley would have been better in that part. Granted, Woodley is an infinitely better actress (anyway, to me, Delevingne is more of an eccentric brat/fashionista who wants to do something more meaningful with her life than being photographed by paparazzi and having "Bacon" tattooed on her foot). BUT Woodley wouldn't have fit the role, because Margot needed a charismatic AND beautiful actress.
