Anyone else noticed this new ABC show that's going to air soon on ABC? Stereotypes galore with the extra heavy accents that will probably get picked up for another season.
I think America will feel more comfortable watching this silly extreme caricature portayal of Asians rather than a smart intelligent show such as Selfie.
The show is based on Eddie Huang though. His life growing up in Orlando in the 90s.

I dunno, at least FOB promotion is better? My friend (asian) is actually super excited to watch Fresh off the boat. She didn't know about Selfie until I told her, and she won't watch Selfie because it's cancelled :(.

shareI'm also a minority and found Selfie refreshing since the it had cultutally diverse characters without the show being focused on ethnicity. Our lives are populated with all types of people and characters. No need to explain WHY they're there.

shareAs an Asian person, sure I was happy that there was finally some sort of representation on TV but what I liked more was that he was just a person, who fit the role perfectly and who had chemistry with the other lead character. I didn't watch it because of his race.
I saw FOTB's trailer and it was so absurd and ridiculous. I do not intend on spending a minute on that show but I'm guessing it will at least get 1 season because people love to watch caricatures of races rather than seeing them as you know, regular human beings.
That's probably why Magaret Cho's god awful show All American Girl lasted a season.
