I don't think she is that pretty
I know some people are happy with how she looks, but I'm not.
I think she can still look a bit prettier. Why don't they model her more like the voice actress for Moana. That girl is beautiful.

The design of Moana is cute in child-like way. Big eyes, rounded nose, etc. Looks like Hiro Hamada.
shareAgreed the voice actress voicing her is adorable why not model Moana after her?
The design of Moana is meant to represent an ancient Polynesian girl. Auli'i is very beautiful but she's not a representation of an ancient Polynesian (she's even part Puerto Rican).
By the way, I think Moana's design is perfect. She's very, very beautiful.
I really hate the basic archetype they got going on with recent princesses.
Moana should of looked a little more like Pocahontas or Esmeralda.
Polynesian , you'd think they'd go for more of an alluring palette.

Why do you feel the need to comment when it wasn't your grammar I was correcting? Does it make you feel smart? It actually makes you look petty.

You know she's only 14 years old, right?
Hope I won't have to pull out the pedo-files on you. lol
Seriously? Because I'm applauding it. I'm glad that animated movies are stepping away from the classic Disney princess archtype because it defines beauty very narrowly. It's delightful that other types of bodies, faces, and colors are being celebrated in animated movies as these point at a bit more realism and acceptance of diversity.
shareI guarantee the next white princess will look like a super model.
Dear Marvel, Thanks for pandering to me. Sincerely, a non-white male.
i think the point here is that even though all princesses shouldn't be models, why make the non-white princesses the not-so-pretty ones?
shareAh, I see. Yes, that's a fair point. Only Eep in The Croods was a white girl with a non-standard figure, but then she was sort of a Neanderthal, so maybe it doesn't count.
shareIt's like some kind of unconscious sabotage. They get all "cute" with the ethnic minority princesses and when they underperform they can complain they don't sell.
Tiana was a frog most of the movie and it was a hand drawn cartoon which was antiquated. Milan pretended to be a dude. That'll sell a lot of toys. 

This is such a frustrating post. You are creating a problem here that should never have existed. Who the *beep* do you think you are saying that the next white princess will look like a super-model? Moana is a very pretty character and it is very sad that you cannot realize that. I feel like Disney cannot win here. They make her a beautiful princess, people come in and say that it is creating unrealistic depictions of females. That they made her too pretty. However, if they give her a little meat on her bones you essentially call out Disney and call them racist for making an ethnic princess ugly??? By making her not super skinny? You seem like a very naive bunch.
On a scale from 1 to Lord Voldemort, how awkward are your hugs?
No offense, but it looks like you are conflating two different issues at hand. You're objecting to one poster predicting that the next white Princess will look like a super model. Super model does not mean pretty, although some people see them that way automatically. It is a body type, however. The poster did point out that the different body types, so far, are given to the characters who represent non-white ethnicities. Would be great to see it mixed up a little. The constant body type of princesses sends a subtle message of what is considered "ideal". It probably isn't intentional, but it's the result. And I agree with you, Moana is lovely.
shareSo the main thing that bothers you about the main female protagonist is that she ISN'T conventially attractive (at least by Western standards)? Like 4 reel man?
shareSo?
It's a movie about a young woman who travels the South Pacific with a demi god.
It's not about a model.
How pretty she is is not pertinent to the story.
