Did I say they didn't have the legal right? It was just in poor taste. Even Little Stevie from the Bruce Springsteen band said it wasn't the time or place.
Remember when a sitting congressman shouted "YOU LIE!" at the president during a joint session of congress? That was an insult. Side note: he's been re-elected multiple times since.
Remember when the governor of Arizona yelled in the president's face, wagging a figure just inches from his nose? That was disrespectful.
When the cast of Hamilton chastised the audience for booing the Vice President elect and said "We represent the diverse Americans who are afraid that your administration doesn't represent us and will not protect our rights, and we hope that our performance tonight might influence you to do so."? That's not an insult. That's a respectful disagreement.
These jerkoffs can't remember what happened last week, much less what their own party is guilty of in years past. They live permanently in the now, repeating what they hear on the radio, going with their "gut", and ignoring any facts to the contrary. America is fùcked.

Lin is no longer part of the cast of Hamilton, and was not an active participant in the delivery of the referenced speech. In addition, the addressing of the Vice President was entirely respectful; there was no 'insult,' only the addressing of the concerns of the cast. It is, after all, a show whose entire premise is based upon American politics.
^ Just in fairness (and also because he doesn't have a single thing to apologize for), I do think I saw something about Lin having had a part in the statement :) Obviously he wasn't actually there, but I think he very much signed off on it and even helped them decide what to say.
But yeah, point it: it was a completely respectful, diplomatic statement to someone who has relentlessly attempted to pass legislation that would severely harm the live of the very people who had just spent near 3 hours of their considerable time, energy, and talents entertaining him.
Javier, the one playing Hamilton now, is an openly gay, openly HIV+ Latino man. The company is primarily people of color, and plenty of women as well. All of whom Pence has been attacking throughout his entire political career in the name of "religious freedom". All they asked was that he take the message and the environment of Hamilton as a show to heart, and stop those attacks on their inalienable rights.
And for what it's worth, what I find hilarious is that Pence himself was totally fine with it!! haha. HE, severely prejudiced though he may be, at least isn't going to demand anyone apologize for respectfully using their right to the freedom of speech. Trump and his supporters on the the other hand, though... OY.
(I'll say, though: If there are folks out there who actually have Hamilton tickets and want to boycott, by all means, SEND THEM MY WAY!! xD I've entered the lottery like 150 times by now with still no luck... I could do with seats opening up a bit )
Oh Bambi, I cried so hard when those hunters shot your mommy. - Kurt Hummel
Indeed! I got lucky enough to win the lottery back in January, when Penn Station was still decked out in Hamilton everything. Alongside Phantom, it's been my favourite theatre experience so far. Pence should just be grateful he got to go - it's booked through to 2018!
If this is your idea of a principled stand, prepare for your entertainment choices to diminish considerably over the next four years. Maybe Ted Nugent can come up with a smash show starring Kid Rock and Scott Baio.
