Boycotting this because of Lynn Manuel Pence Insult

I was going to see this but not after Lynn Manuel was so disrespectful to VP Pence at Hamilton.

He obviously doesn't want conservatives or Republicans as customers so why should we spend our money and time on him?

reply

That'll show them. ?

reply

If it was just the cast then I wouldn't care as much. But here they actually messaged him when they saw Pence in the audience and he told them to single him out for rebuke. It wasn't right. And btw I AGREE with what was said to Pence just not at that moment.

reply

I'm not going to boycott a movie because one of the writers happens to be a liberal. If you boycott any movie with liberals involved, you will have to boycott every movie ever made.

reply

Yup. I hate Roman Polanski for what he did, but I don't necessarily boycott his films.

reply

Heh, pretty much. Just because I don't like him as a person doesn't change the fact Chinatown and Rosemary's Baby are among the most highly revered movies in all of film history.

reply

Not just Liberal but openly disrespectful to him as an audience member.

reply

Why do people keep missing this point? It was raising concerns, which are founded in the rhetoric of Trump and in the policies of Pence? Those concerns are valid and were most respectfully and politely expressed.

reply

Awwww, do you and Pence need a safe space? Got your widdle feelings hurt?

reply

Even Little Stevie big Liberal said it was completely inappropriate.

reply

Yeah, go on dude!!! Even though millions of movie-goers will not follow you, but still, good for you!!!

reply

Thank you. Obviously the film broke records and sounds good. The guy is a major talent. I actually saw Hamilton the week before and loved it. I'm disappointed that he heard someone was in the audience and singled them out for rebuke. It sets a bad precedent. During special UN weeks will they lecture certain world leaders from the stage? Overall from a creative standpoint it also stains the show.

reply

It's Lin Manuel-Miranda, and you're a hypocrite if that is what you really think. The cast made a speech asking Pence to represent all Americans - in no way was this disrespectful to anyone. I doubt your absence will shake the box office anyway.

reply

That's the problem with right wing lunatics. They see inclusion as a bad thing. Nothing offends them more than equality.

reply

It's Lin-Manuel Miranda, you've got the hyphen in the wrong place.

reply

There have been more egregious mistakes, but beg pardon.

reply

How was the cast's speech in any way disrespectful?

What if Hillary was seeing a show and the cast pointed her out and asked about the emails or the people who died in Benghazi while she slept and made up lies? Would people say that's appropriate for that time and place?

reply

ZTrainExpress, I was not a Hillary supporter and yet I would have considered it the height of rudeness and inappropriateness to call her out regarding these issues if she had chosen to go out to see something. There is a time and a place for everything and this definitely was not it. This kind of thing actually is an attack on a person's humanity; I think of it as assault (just put yourself if that person's place and think how you would feel if you were similarly treated). I would not boycott Moana because of this (in fact I saw it tonight) but I definitely would, and will boycott Hamilton and probably any and every other thing that that guy does from now on. I think all he had to do with Moana was pen a few songs, and the music in that movie was one of the most horrible I have ever heard. I cannot believe that people actually think of him as a great talent and, well, we've now also seen just what kind of a person he is, so he is must skip from now on.

reply

Man, Trump/Pence supporters are so sensitive. They should be given safe spaces.

reply

We're not the ones throwing nationally televised hissy fits.

reply

Good for you. No one cares.
