Grimm knock-offs?

According to the radio ads, this group of special, resurrected Messengers are "Messengers of God" (angels?) sent to fight "The Devil" (or demon(s)?
Compare this to the CBS show "Grimm" where post-adolescent Grimms (like the Mesengers?) first become aware of their ability to identify and fight "Wessens" (demons or demon-possessed humans?)
Or compare it to the other new 13-episode show on ABC Family, "Shadowhunters," about "Clary Fray, who finds out on her 18th birthday (adulthood/resurrection?) that she comes from a long line of human/angel hybrids (Messengers/Grimms?) who hunt down and kill demons (Wessens?)!!"
Are these Grimm knockoffs?

"Grimm" is a "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" knockoff. There are very few shows that you can't call a knockoff of something.

Having seen Grimm you can tell by the very log-line that this is in no way, not even REMOTELY reminiscent of Grimm. At all. Grimm itself is just a very poor version of dozens of "monster-hunter" type shows before it. The Messengers is more of a serialized drama and it doesn't look like it's a demon-of-the week type show at all, more like a horror/fantasy soap (kinda like how Heroes in the earlier days was a sci-fi soap)

A friend of mine call Grimm “Law & Order: Grimminal Intent”

Dude, it’s Beacon Hills.

LOL.

A fitting name, especially considering what little mythology there is seems to be there only to trick the viewer there's an actual point to the story, or at least, more than just a criminal of the week.

Grimm is on nbc you tool

Lol, I know right, I was like CBS? What? No, it's on NBC.

And yes this show is nothing like Grimm.

"Lol, I know right, I was like CBS?"

See, that's when I stopped reading since clearly the OP has no clue whatsoever. Grimm is based on the folktales collected by the Brothers Grimm. The Messengers deals with the apocalypse.

The Messengers deals with the apocalypse.

A completely different type of fairy tale with far longer legs.

You said,"Or compare it to the other new 13-episode show on ABC Family, "Shadowhunters," about "Clary Fray, who finds out on her 18th birthday (adulthood/resurrection?) that she comes from a long line of human/angel hybrids (Messengers/Grimms?) who hunt down and kill demons (Wessens?)!!"

Shadowhunters is based off a series of books that came out in 2007 (City of Bones (Mortal Instruments)), the first ep of Grimm didn't air until 2011, so it can't be a knockoff of Grimm.

Its a knock off in the sense its far from original but its not grimm its ripping off.
Still almost impossible to make a new tv serie thats actually doesnt have a earlier version of it.

-trope 1 "the chosen" or group of chosen by a higher power this case christian god
-trope 1b each chosen get 1 special "power"
-trope 2 "save the world" (rature this case using a existing one saves time as a single word explains it to the majority of watchers.
-trope 3 "the devil", once you involve christianity you can chose to have the devil as a opposition to your heros. actually unusual to have the real devil as a vieable character rather then as a shadowy presence in the backroom implied at but never seen like they normally do with god (unless its a comedy).
-trope 4 the group gets visions/quests they need to solve stop i assume in future episodes to "save the world"

This is basically the tv series messenger and you can deconstruct 99,9% of all tv series in as few a number of common cliches as that and that in no way means its a bad serie.
Do find it unproductive as a watcher though to be this clinical about a show it takes you out of immersion and hurts your enjoyment when watching it.

To me this is a copy of several different earlier tv series if you remove the "skin theme" of christianity and look at what actually happens.
To me its basically "mission impossible"
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060009/
could insert 10 other examples of a special group of people that each time get a mission they need to solve using each of their abilities either supernatural or just natural talent like being a hacker, arms expert and so on.

I find this post by Mr. 04245 hilarious!

It is also sad in that it reflects a large segment of the populations not bothering
to get real information about something and make assumptions based on half heard radio ads and comparing it to something the know nothing about. That's why terrible politictions get elected across the world.

In Case Mr 4245 is interested, I will fill in some things. He has already learned that everything can be considered a rip off of something else. There are no new ideas just different ways of telling them. You could say Messengers can be compared to The Avengers and many others.

Since you have obviously never seen Grimm on NBC. There are no Post-Adolecent Grimms. Another word for post adolescent is Adult.

There is 1 Grimm who is a cop. He has the ability to see (Pronounced Vessens, don't know spelling)

They are essentially human, but can transform to another form if they wish or if in danger. There are as many kinds as the writers of the show can come up with.

Some have supernatural powers. Other do not. Like regular humans most are law abiding. But some are criminals and murderers. They have nothing to do with demons. The Grimm who has certain powers and abilities, uses them when a Vessen who us killing because
regular law enforcement won't work. He has Vessen friends.

Each week he deals with a case and there is storyline that continues throughout the season, sometimes it is the whole episode. Sometimes a small part.

An excellent show.

Has certain elements that many shows have. Like Supernatural, my Favourite show.

They battle Demons, angels, monsters. As the title suggests

So Sir before you write something or have an opionion, do a little research.

Good luck

This looks more like a Sleepy Hollow rip off to me. Messengers-Witness. The whole apocalypse story line.
