Hailey is not that pretty.

I think she's pretty but she's not that pretty. For reference, I think Cynthia is absolutely beautiful but Hailey is just cute/attractive but in a fairly average way. So I don't really get all this hype that the orchestra & the pr people are making about her as the beautiful young new face of the entire group?

There's also nothing really enrapturing about her. She speaks in a relatively monotone voice and even though Rodrigo says she plays with blood, I get no passion from her at all. The only time I really felt anything resonating is when she was in Mexico, where in that red dress, she came a bit more to life. I don't know...I tried really hard to connect with her but I think she's been miscast...

I find her replacement Michael to be far more interesting of a character actually....

But thank goodness, Gael Garcia Bernal carries this entire series. He is just mesmerizing to watch!

Well...your entire post is subjective opinion as will always be the case when discussion beauty and attraction. Here's mine.

I find cynthia to be the tired old glamourous cat-walk model type of beauty, a stick with a pretty face to say it crudely. She doesn't look like a pleasant person to talk to. Gives off an air of poshness and arrogance, though admittedly she is neither of those things, just talking about her looks here but she has been rather boring so far. Of the top of my head it seems like her only storyline so far is that she sleeps around a lot.

hailey has youth, natural beauty and a body. She's down to earth, smiles a lot, enthousiastic and endearing about - and to everybody/thing. She's dittzy and often a little confused in a cute way. She's likes to joke and mess around, and she has shown character in the face of her superiors. For me the actress and the character is an all round pleasure to watch on screen.

I agree though that Gael Garcia Bernal is a lot of fun.

I'm completely with you on the attractiveness of both women.

And if she were too pretty people would find another reason to dislike her. I think she's an unconventional character looks wise and attitude wise and that's why she stands out. Rodrigo finds her attractive, doesn't really matter what the viewers think especially since according to you the lead "carries the entire series". 😒

I disagree. I find her to be very beautiful, but in a girl-next-door type of way, not in a conventional runway or magazine model way. I also find her sort of deep, monotone lisp endearing. The cadence in the way she speaks is interesting and keeps me engaged.

Television is a vice; film is an addiction.

I disagree. She's amazing looking.

I agree that Hailey is not remarkably attractive. Just a basically average looking girl. Which would be fine if she was a great actress who knew how to create a character I could feel something about - but she is the conspicuously weak link of the ensemble.

I find it all just weird. If you are going to have such an average-at-best actress for your lead, you might as well grab someone who is smoking hot. Grab Megan Fox or something ridiculous like that.

I just find her void of appeal. I don't pull for her. I don't pull against her. Hook up with dancer-guy. Hook up with Rodrigo. Or don't. I don't care.

I am a musician who is usually a complete sucker for stories of musical success and dreams-come-true with music. I could not have cared less when Hailey got a spot in the orchestra. To achieve that non-reaction from me in those circumstances - kind of amazing actually.

Very very bad casting choice IMO.

But anyway the topic is looks and I would say 5.4 out of 10.

Welcome to IMDB, where every actress' band of haters shows up to rip on her looks, acting, etc.

What is with this constant thing about "haters" all over IMDb? Seriously, it's as if a particular movie, series, or actor's fans take absolutely every critique as "hating." It's absurd.

It's entirely possible to not care for someone's looks or acting, to find certain plots and stories dull, or whatever else. None of that is ripping someone as a person and none of it is "hating" on anyone or anything. Hate is a very strong word, and I see nothing from other members on this thread that qualifies. We should not minimize the meaning of hate that way.

Not everyone finds Lola Kirke and/or Hailey as endearing, charming, or whatever as you do. Some members have stated explicitly what characteristics bother them and what they don't care for overall. I find myself alternating between finding the character enjoyable and finding her irritating. That doesn't mean I hate her and it sure as heck doesn't mean I hate Lola Kirke--I don't know her. Yet it sounds as if you find all normal criticism based on personal taste to be "hating." Why?

Hailey's the bees knees.

But what kills it is his calling her Hai-Lai. It was semi-cute in the first season, started to wear thin in the second, and now I'm up to Ep 6 of Season 3 and I want to throw something at the TV every time he calls her that. It's not cute, it's not funny, it's not in character, it's not interesting. It's not anything now but supremely annoying.

It is cute, funny, adorable, endearing, all of those things. I love it. It's called a Mexican accent.
