Hailey is not that pretty.

I think she's pretty but she's not that pretty. For reference, I think Cynthia is absolutely beautiful but Hailey is just cute/attractive but in a fairly average way. So I don't really get all this hype that the orchestra & the pr people are making about her as the beautiful young new face of the entire group?

There's also nothing really enrapturing about her. She speaks in a relatively monotone voice and even though Rodrigo says she plays with blood, I get no passion from her at all. The only time I really felt anything resonating is when she was in Mexico, where in that red dress, she came a bit more to life. I don't know...I tried really hard to connect with her but I think she's been miscast...

I find her replacement Michael to be far more interesting of a character actually....

But thank goodness, Gael Garcia Bernal carries this entire series. He is just mesmerizing to watch!

I think that Hailey is supposed to be 'girl-next-door' attractive, and in more ways than just her looks. Hailey is pretty, smart, quirky, and flawed; a real human being as opposed to a 'type.' Only women with nothing else to offer are breathtakingly beautiful, usually.

At first, I was annoyed with her at times, just as Rodrigo is, but she grows on you, just as she is growing on Rodrigo.

Casting someone who is 'Hollywood beautiful' would have been a mistake. An artificial-looking woman (like someone's suggestion of Megan Fox [*blood curdles*]) would have ruined the subtlety of the character, the relationship between characters - namely Hailey and Rodrigo - and the tone of the series. Also, it is my experience that most creative types who were not raised in the United States do not find that plastic, Hollywood, cookie-cutter aesthetic (you know, tits-on-a-stick but no actual figure to speak of and a botox-frozen face) to be attractive. They are attracted to someone who is real and relatable, someone unconventional and interesting.

All that being said, I think that Lola Kirke was a fine casting choice to play Hailey.

This seems to be fairly well-behaved thread as these things go.

For me, the only good reason to comment in here is to be civil, not to be negative.

I'll get off my soapbox.

I really came here to say that I like Lola Kirke, she's pretty in an unconventional way and I think she was well cast as Hailey.

She is very attractive. I even love the little double-chin she gets sometimes. She is stellar for the part, perfect even. She isn't supposed to be perfectly elegant, that's the POINT

She's pretty, but I really don't like her season 3 haircut. It doesn't flatter her features and it ages her skin. She looked better in the first two seasons, without bangs/fringe.
