And the stunt double for Olga Kurylenko was... a man πŸ˜‚

Andy Lister was Olga Kurylenko's stunt double

It seems they couldn't find a powerful empowered woman in real life that was able to even simulate what was written for the screen, not even with cables and CGI. Ah, the irony 🀣

reply

I had no idea Olga Kurylenko was in this. So she finally got her superhero gig, after trying out for Wonder Woman.

reply

Yes I just checked out WW trivia
"Actress Olga Kurylenko revealed in a December 2019 interview with The Hollywood Reporter that she was one of three actresses, including Gal Gadot, who made the final round of auditions for the role of Wonder Woman, which ultimately went to Gadot. Kurylenko said that during the audition process, she had to read lines wearing a bathing suit and leather boots. Ironically, she added that Gadot had also auditioned for the role of Camille Montes in Quantum of Solace (2008) which ended up going to Kurylenko."

Olga Kurylenko as Wonder Woman?

Nyet, Comrade. Eez noht Vahnder Vwooman. Eez Bohnd gerrl end ohhnly Bohnd gerrl.

reply

She is a fucking middle aged woman that probably has arthritis, gout, and other shit. How was she cast as a fucking superhero?

reply

Still hot tho.

reply

Disney believes female stunt women are inferior to men.

reply

That caused significant problems for some as well, because men's posture and walk are different from women, lost some of the realism.

reply

Yeah, the guy was obviously taller than Black Widow and had much wider shoulders, even accounting for the armor. Then when we see her without the mask, she shrinks down.

reply

Olga Kurylenko is a very slim woman, someone like Frankie Adams would have been a lot more convincing.

reply

Yeah. I think Disney just assume their audience is largely comprised of idiots. You watch it and can instantly tell it's a guy due to the way he moves, build etc and then they go and reveal it's Olga lol.

reply

That's the goal though ... use a male double to hide the fact that Taskmaster is actually Antonia

It's also consistent with the character: Taskmaster imitates the moves of everyone she sees. If she imitates Captain America, Hawkeye or Black Panther, she should logically move like a man.

Black Widow/Heidi Moneymaker's moves are very deliberately feminine, as are all of Moneymaker's stunts in all her films, like her trademark clamber-aboard-guy's-shoulders.

She also looked fairly tall in the film - at 5'9", Olga's 6" taller than Scarlett in real life, though it looked like Taskmaster/Antonia could've been Brigitte Nielsen/Karen Gillan size (i.e., 6' or more).

reply

In this movie taskmaster mimics opponents' movements while fighting, that is why she has been described as "like fighting a mirror", and when she fights black widow she moves like a man? And before the mission she was seen studying black widow's moves.

Also taskmaster, at least in the comic books, mimics skills, not movements, otherwise there will be a lot of problems in her fighting skills since everyone's style is different. For example, in the first Matrix movie you can see Agent Smithβ€˜s fights are full of powerful, linear strikes and that is because his strength and speed are far superior than his opponents. He doesn't have to attack weaknesses or wait for an opening, he can directly move against his opponent's strikes and break his opponent. But if you are not agent Smith, if taskmaster is fighting Agent Smith for example, then mimicking would backfire really badly.

If taskmaster really does what the movie says then she would have died when fighting someone stronger, someone similar to Agent Smith. So the movie setup does not really make sense.

reply

Also even when fighting black widow, taskmaster has made very powerful linear strikes as well, showed her strength was far beyond black widow, those are not a woman's style.

Taskmaster in the subway scene threw her shield at least 20 yards away and hit a steel column, as result the shield was deeply embedded in it, almost cut it in half.

Unless taskmaster was on some sort of super soldier serum that does not make sense at all. And in both comic books and MCU there was never any mentioning of something like that.

Taskmaster is known for skills, not strength.

reply

I look at it like this: The explosion did not just damage her face but her entire body. She like, Darth Vader, is mostly machine now.

reply

The certain way of men's walk to a large degree is due to the fact that we have balls between our legs. Even it is mostly machines, why would they put balls there? For what purpose?

reply

They would not "put balls in there", men do not walk the way we do because we have balls between our legs. It does affect how we sit but I was not able to find any info that showed they affect our walk.

According to https://www.sportsrec.com/288371-heel-walking-exercise.html :
"Men, for the most part are larger than women; their bodies are built for physical work. Walking for men, from a physiological stand point, is utilitarian. The purpose of walking is to achieve a specific function, get from place to place. As such, the walking movements of men tend to be straight and linear."

This would explain why her setup is like a man, she would walk with purpose.

It would also make sense for them to design it that way as it most likely was designed by a man who would emulate how men walk.

reply

If you are a man, it is pretty easy to find out. Just close your thighs and try to walk and see what happens.

reply

IT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR BALLS ARE SICKLY OR POSSIBLY INSTALLED IN THE WRONG PLACE...MEN'S THIGHS ARE TOGETHER...THATS WHY FAT GUYS CHAFE.

reply

Of course we need women to tell us about our balls.

reply

YOU KNOW WOMEN?

reply

Good news! I tried myself for few steps. My balls no longer hurt after just half an hour.
