Extremely poor taste to release this movie in the times we live in!

I saw the trailer for this trashy movie with poor CGI today. But it wasn't just the weak CGI and weak story that put me off, it's the fact that a movie studio is actually willing to release this crap and try to make money off the possibility of terrorism we face in cities like London.

I live in London and wouldn't pay a penny to go see a movie about London being attacked by terrorists and blown up. Such poor taste. We all know the threats that have come from ISIS, do we really need to see garbage movies like this being produced? Nope!

There have been and will be action movies forever. Deal with it. Get off your soap box. Ifor you can't dissaccosiate this from being a fictionall movie, you have problems.

Well said!

To all those that say "It's just a movie." Was Leni Reifenstahl's "Triumph of the Will" just a movie too?? She had the excuse that she's just a "movie maker" once the Nazis lost the way. Was D.W. Griffith's "The Birth of a Nation" also just a movie?

Hate to inform you of this but a considerable number of the public form their opinions on other people and world politics from these movies. It's not a mere coincidence most NRA members consider the dated 80's Cold War paranoia "Red Dawn" a masterpiece.
Even those who don't take these movie literally are still scared witless from seeing them and later spot terrorists everywhere.

Just a movie? What a lousy excuse. Are you implying something being a movie automatically renders it beyond any critique and that its underlying message won't have the slightest effect on those who see it?

What if the roles were reversed? What if the "other side" released a film in which they were portrayed as innocent civilian victims getting shelled to pieces? Would you just say:"Hey, it's just a movie!" No, most of you would be furious and call it "Evil propaganda."

The terrorists are still a threat and people are shaken. Why the heck would you throw gasoline on the fire and make people even more scared?

reply

Are you comparing a Hollywood B movie with nazi propaganda? Really?
I know the whining beta males populist party (read: closet nazis) followers all over the world gets disturbingly easily offended by almost anything, despite you, the exact same "people" whine about the world being too PC as you can't spam your closet nazi BS all over the internet.

reply

I thought the movie was right up there with any other good action movie. In reading your and others comments it seems this movie is politically incorrect. That is, insensitive to Muslims. The movie was prescient in that it foretells what I believe will happen because of our nation's inept foreign policy.

reply

Oh look, another astroturfing bigot who thinks the world is made of stereotypes....
Yeah, I know. The IMDB comment sections is as rotten as the youtube comment section, so I really shouldn't be surprised....

reply

Yes, I agree – and it's a good action film to boot. I'd even take it as a warning…

reply

you need to get off imdb because well this site is about movies like it or not. take you propaganda crap and leave.

Any idea of movies such as that? Would be interested in seeing it.

The Reluctant Fundamentalist, while not exactly an action movie, should be interesting to you.

I live in Calumet and for that reason alone....well and we have the Wolverines hockey team here as well...Red Dawn is a classic. One doesn't have to be in the NRA to think that.

reply

I am curious did you watch the movie or just complain about it like the OP?

Not sure what is worse- me wasting time to ask you this question or you thinking you are impressing folks with your movie name drops-.

It is a ridiculous action flick and sometimes that is exactly what the doctor ordered on a rainy boring Sunday.

For what I used it for it was A+.

Well said i found it not a bad movie at all - except for poor old Gerard he really is a crap actor!

Now Sean Bean, Karl Urban or even Vin Diesel would have made much better box office.

Another muslim gets upset over a movie this time - cartoons , naked women , alcohol what next will the death cult of Islam get upset about - soon the world will be as dreary , uninspiring , repressed and dark as every muslim country when the death cult takes over - get a life man!

No. The answer to the soap box is more soap boxes, at least that was so when America's adult Founders gave us the 1st Amendment, unlike today's babies too incompetent to handle contrary opinions for which a real school would expel them, unlike today's useless frauds. The problem this movie highlights from which the childish "poor taste" commenter childishly runs and hides, unlike the Brits in WWII, is that the evil triumphs when its enemies do nothing, why I pray 1/17 comes soon before 0bama totally sells us out to his Muslim lovers and Putin. As bad as either choice is (and I still hope for a 3rd alternative) I pray neither would be as bad re national security, God knows, and only he can save us. Still, to be real, the world is and always has been, full of ineffective Neville Chamberlains* and Clement Atlees and can't handle very much of real men like the scant few Winston Churchills & Mike Bannings.

*many have been tempted to call Chamberlain a coward but perhaps it was rather a matter of the frightful difficulty of terrible, fatal decisions transitioning from peacetime to move forcefully against madmen like Hitler & Mussolini that gave even steel-spined Churchill horrors. Vile socialist Atlee was another matter, treasonously giving the people a seeming "easy out" as the war wound down and victory seemed assured where "the government" would make things easy so people wouldn't have to make adult hard choices in rebuilding the nation, but sadly resulting in ruining the nation with the socialism disease from which the UK's never recovered once it slid down that fatal trajectory of tragic and fatal personal irresponsibility. God save us.

reply

Amen to that. I'm tired of projects being killed or watered down because easily "offended" people think everything is "dangerous" or "hurtful".

Everything offends someone, but it is up to the person who feels "hurt" to deal with it in a mature way. If they can't, well, enjoy your miserable life and don't *beep* up mine.

Looks like we will finally see a movie with Islamic terrorists that doesn't make excuses for them. Almost every movie featuring Islamic terrorists has been based on true stories like 13 Hours, Argo, etc and they always at least partially try to get the audience to feel sorry for the "other side" like the ending of 13 Hours and The Kingdom.

During the Cold War, there was plenty of movies with Soviet villains, including movies like Red Dawn and Invasion USA that played on people's worst fears. Would that be in poor taste? Is San Andreas in poor taste given that California is constantly living under an earthquake threat?

reply

That's all fine and dandy, but if an action movie wants to touch on that subject, could it atleast have the common courtesy of being well acted, well filmed AND well directed? I mean seriously, those explosions are some of the worst composited CG shots I've seen in a non Asylum movie. With a movie of this budget, 60 million, you can't just fly by with half assed action and CG, and just think that appealing to the right will cut it. I'm no Michael Bay fanboy, but he does put his all into his action. This third rate Die Hard clone seems to have no flare to it, which is what Olympus atleast had

reply

I take that back. Apparently it was 105 million, not 60 million as Wiki erroneously out it. Even less of an excuse to half ass

reply

I thought it was fine. It's actually nice to enjoy movies. Maybe you should try it.

I don't love her.. She kicked me in the face!!

reply

While the villains are clearly middle eastern looking the movie never mentions the words Islamic Jihad. The main bad guy is an arms dealer who sells weapons to create conflict so he can then sell more weapons. He is much more like the GI Joe villain Destro, than any real life terrorist. His motivation is profit, until in the beginning of the movie his daughter is killed in a U.S. drone strike, motivating his actions for the rest of the story.

reply

We in America get movies all the time where our cities are destroyed by terrorist, or disasters. The thing is we know its just a movie.

reply

How true, and we also know that no one is forcing us to watch something we don't want or have to. I long for the days when everyone was less "offended" by everything and also knew how to shut up on walk away if they didn't like something. Amazing and sad how many people feel they must share their "offendedness" with the entire world... kinda like the people who are allergic to everything but still want to go eat in restaurants. Stay home, you people!

reply

I'm offended by your post.

reply

I am not offended by his post - he is quite right some people must have really sad lives if they cant watch a movie without ranting on libtard style with their constant whining political correctness - the sooner you Yanks vote Trump in the better!

I absolutely agree with that sentiment.

We have an entire segment of the American population who are perpetually aggrieved that their hatred of minorities, women, gays, etc. is no longer socially acceptable nor tolerated in decent company.

These fragile snowflakes should spend less time being offended that their bigoted worldview is no longer catered to and they should move into the 21st century along with the rest of civilization.

FYI, assault rifles are full automatic, they are hard to get in the USA (unless you are a muslim terrorist). More people in the US are killed by hammers each year than by long guns.

I for one loved LONDON HAS FALLEN as much as OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN. London has been a terrorist target for years, not just recently from ISIS but we have had threats from IRA and associated splinter groups for years before, and there have been movies made about that(A PRAYER FOR THE DYING, HENNESSY, THE BOMBMAKER to name but a few) - and it makes a change to see a Die Hard style action movie set in London!

reply

They are disturbed because the terrorists in this movie has a point.
People feel uncomfortable watching a movie about London getting bombed because it's not impossible.
It's a fact that US gov and it's allies have been killing Middle Eastern people like bugs for decades.
Those `terrorists` took revenge with 9/11. They did Charlie Hebdo and Paris too.
As an ally, UK gov is responsible for the deaths in Middle East and is a target for terrorist attacks.

reply

Relax. It is an obvious propaganda piece designed to make people fearful so they will support the police state and global centralization of power. Plus a bunch of SJW, whites are inferior to blacks and men are inferior to women nonsense.

Execution is just too cartoonish and story too ridiculous to be taken serious.

reply

"Plus a bunch of SJW, whites are inferior to blacks and men are inferior to women nonsense."

Seriously, from this movie?

"I don't want a bloody avatar!" -paraphrased from BQQ's annoyances with IMDb's stupidity

reply

The anti-SJW sees SJW messages everywhere and in everything. Didn't you know?

reply

I mean i can understand why SJWs dont like this movie since they seem to love Muslims, but anti-SJWs.... this movie had basically zero SJW message in it.

So you're avoiding the movie because it's set in London. Presumably you'd feel safer (and maybe see the movie) if it were set in Dusseldorf or Kyoto, or perhaps Seville. #facepalm
