This show is great

Now that I’ve watched the eighth episode, I can finally give my verdict — this show is great. It started strong, had a little diversity nonsense in the middle, but nothing to get in a twist over. And now, in these final episodes, the story is really hitting its stride. The only question is — will there be a second season, or are we jumping straight into Resurrection?

It is so enjoyable, that I don't want it to end, so I've only seen 5 episodes and will spread the remaining 5 episodes between now and June (Resurrection begins in June).

Because Dexter is only 20 in Original Sin, I think there will be at least 5 seasons, maybe 10 seasons if it remains a hit (Dexter was 30+ in the 2006 series).
And Resurrection will run parallel and also have several seasons.

Neither show is listed as a "TV Mini Series" on IMDb, both are "TV Series".
And we will know when Original Sin is getting close to the end - or a potential end - because Doakes will arrive.
But even with Doakes, the show may continue several more years, because I don't think its clear how long Dexter knew Doakes for...

All great points. I’m hoping Dexter: Resurrection lives up to the original. If we’re really lucky, we might get two good Dexter shows running concurrently for the next several years. That would be incredible.

Yep I think that's what will happen, it is a dream come true.
And the dream will extend far into the future, because I watched the 2006-2013 series FOUR times, so I'll be watching Original Sin several times in the coming decades too.
And Resurrection I expect will be even more thrilling than the 2006-2013 series, because of where the story begins...
Its the perfect combination, Original Sin is non-stop fun, while Resurrection is non-stop thrills!

It’s definitely going to get a Season 2. It’s just tooooo good. But it seems more likely to happen after Resurrection, which is a different kind of series. And that apparently will be in NYC.

They have managed to capture the tone and the time of the original. It feels more like Miami too - because I think in later seasons in the first series, they were filming in Long Beach or San Diego. They eased Gibson in with MCH voiceover. Episode 8 is great. We see nails being painted, a precursor to the Ice Truck killer. The start of LaGuerta with Miguel Prada (Jimmy Smits) in law school. I hope they prolong Harry as much as possible. And Deb is coming into her own - I like the way they include both Dexter and Deb in the intro. It is really their story now. It all works. The question is when exactly will Season 2 drop - 2026?

Young Sheldon got 7 seasons (141 episodes), and it made sense because Sheldon was at least 10 years younger in the prequel.
Dexter is 10 years younger in this prequel too, so they can do 7 seasons or 10 seasons etc.

Long Beach, you are 100% correct. They filmed most of the 1st season in 2006 in Miami then moved production to CA. They will probably do the same for this series if we get a 2nd season. Here are a few filming locations I saved on my google maps :

These are all from original series.

26300 Crenshaw Blvd, Palos Verdes Estates, CA 90274 - Cabin in the Everglades, 2nd season.

250 S Harbor Blvd, San Pedro, CA 90731 - season 1 finale, cargo dock face off with Doakes.

5468 E Ocean Blvd, Long Beach, CA 90803 - Debs beach rental house.

2348 San Anseline Ave, Long Beach, CA. - Ritas house.

1438 N Gower St, Los Angeles, CA 90028 - Location where Dexters Miami Apt was rebuilt in order to film in CA.

6211 Yucca St, Los Angeles, CA 90028 - Lila's Apt from season 2.

The Crenshaw address is a botanical garden - and that season with Lila and Doakes worked really well even if it was CA. Especially those Everglades scenes. I can’t remember when it started looking like LA - I mean what season - I just recall it registered to me - maybe the water wasn’t the right color - it’s dark blue here along the California coast and always hazy, and Miami water is turquoise and the skies are bright blue. Anyway, at some point the whole series tanked. But the locations you listed worked really well. And, I actually think this new series might be in California as well - but it feels like they are doing a better job. Deb’s high school was shot at Van Nuys High School. And Gio’s apartment was actually in Miami. You can google locations.
They did go to Bimini.

Yesterday on IMDb i noticed Dexter Original Sin dropped to 8.2 , but today its back up to 8.3 !!
Excellent sign that its rating will stay above 8 forever !!
Rarely see a rating go down and then back up like that !!

agreed. enjoyed each episode more than the one before it.

They set it up for another season. Thought it was going to set up the next follow up later this year

When I was the trailer for it several months ago I thought it was a joke. It looked terrible. After finishing the first episode I got a day it's way better than I thought it would be. Very enjoyable seeing the characters in younger roles. The Dexter kid plays him to a tee. Good fun. Welcome back Dexter.

I finished the 10th ep yesterday. I hope it comes back for 2nd season. Very enjoyable show. A prequel that was done correctly for the most part.

So for a month you just keep spouting your big mouth off about diversity getting your panties in a twist. . Now all of a sudden it's nothing to get in a twist over??? Bro what is wrong with you??? 😂

Diversity is a cancer. Anyone and everyone who pushed DEI should be rounded up and sent to Gitmo. Undesirables should be removed from society by force.
