which is better the 1st movie or the sequel?

The sequel really lost me with the card passing scene at the lab. It was way too over the top ridiculous and went on for far too long. After the first couple of minutes I just started rolling my eyes, praying for it to end so that the plot could finally get moving forward again. It was one of the longest scenes in the movie (at least it seemed that way) and did very little to further the plot. It was just the filmmakers way of saying "WOW! Look what I can do." while being not only completely pointless, but actually counterintuitive to the overall story.

After all, if the chip was simply a McGuffin created by The Eye to lure out Mabry...if it was never real in the first place...then why would they make it so difficult for the Horsemen to escape with it? Why would the security guard, as an agent of The Eye, demand repeated searches of the Horsemen, thereby putting his own plan at greater risk??? It makes no sense, but it "looks cool" and I guess that's all that matters.

It's sad because this movie did have some potential. I especially liked what they did with Morgan Freeman's character. I just wish it had better writing and was executed a little better.
