Hated the first one with a passion so if the sequel is any worse (like I've heard) then God help the people that paid money to see it

It is a personal thing, which one do YOU think is better?

I haven't see either one, yet.

Then see both of them, in order. They are both entertaining if you enjoy the type of misdirection that magic provides and the second builds on the first. I don't think it is worth trying to say which is "best." You wouldn't have the second one if the first one had not been made.

Thanks, for your feedback. That makes sense.

2nd is better.

Perhaps because I now knew what to expect. The first one was so ridiculous that it sort of took me off guard and disappointed gravely. Back then, I just felt it was stupid. This one is just as ridiculous though, but I think the plot is more interesting and in some odd way makes more sense. Both entertaining but the latter works better overall, imo. I now actually look forward to a 3rd 😊

If anyone says "The first one" with an undoubted sort of demeanor, they're either lying to themselves or simply forget how much style and little substance the first one began with. It's not like this one started this new weird track that many sequels do to go "more more more," the first one is equally as guilty with what it did.

I think the first one is wound a bit tighter with regard to focus, but the second one was more entertaining. One thing both did really good at was shifting narration quite often. There isn't really a main character. Even if Jesse Eisenberg seems most like the head horseman and Ruffalo gets a lot of air time himself, everyone really has a part to play in their own right.

I'm clamoring for closure with a third one.

I liked both movies, but like the second one a hell of a lot more.

I'll say 2 is better, though neither are amazing by any means.
