It made zero sense to me. It would have been a cool 2min scene but instead it turned into a maze of people throwing it around for no reason other than to look cool.
It felt like they were searching them again and again because they looked suspicious *because they were throwing it around* And a few time they threw it after being searched to a person about to be searched.
Fine movie, terrible scene.

Just saw this again, and I have to agree -- pointless scene.
shareI AGREE! This scene is the whole reason I came to this board today, to discuss. It was totally stupid , as discussed elsewhere here, that the person just "passed" the search yet flicks the card to a new person being searched, and they have to go through the whole "hide the card" trick yet again.
We got it the first time. Move along, nothing here to see!
I too came here just to whinge about that scene.
It was worse than pointless , it lowered the overall quality of the whole film.
I gues though it was "neccasary" to further the idea that "master magicians are great at heists"
othwer wise anyone could have walked into that place and swiped the circuit board.
Also I'm unclear how they can remove the cpu of that giant computer without affecting the performance/output of it, especially when the guy orders the technicians to check it over.
