OK, I watched it twice.

First time sober, second time drunk.

Liked it more the second time, for different reasons than expected.

It's not a great movie. The first and last thirty minutes are pretty good. Everything in between is a real slog.

But what surprised me is how much more I enjoyed the new characters with the daughter and JGL the second time around. That stuff was actually pretty interesting, while the nostalgia stuff rang hollow a second time through.

Solidly OK and everything a streaming movie should be. But not theater material. From what i've heard they spent too much on it but this is Biden's America.

I think they tried too hard with all the nostalgia and needless chase scenes. I mean you need some of that, but do we need a callback to all these different moments in the previous films. It was just too much, oh classic Foley! I agree they should leaned more into the new characters. That said, it's happy to see an actual sequel rather than just a remake of the original film. I thought it had some funny parts, but overall I was a bit disappointed. I guess I had higher expectations as I love the first two films.

I know people slow down as they get older, but Axel was a fast talker. Murphy was still tackling the scenes with the same attitude, but he simply didn't have that electric energy anymore. Axel is like Spider-Man or Deadpool. He's throwing so much nonsense dialog at the people he's messing with they don't have time to think straight. When that was attempted in this film, it came across kind of cheesy.
