Is this film Misogynistic ???

I haven't seen this movie, but I plan to see it with a girl. It surely attracts me as something different. However, there are a lot of posts being shared, mostly critics saying that this movie is very misogynistic, and something that will piss off a lot of ladies. So I ask the collective wisdom of IMDb, is it true ? Because I have some problem trusting critics, I would rather go with common viewers.

Saw it yesterday and as some said earlier it could bug some excessively sensitive people : all women characters are either his wife/damsel in distress, prostitutes or some weird leather clad dominatrix warriors and there's some pretty casual use of rape as a threat...
All in all not a very subtle nor high brow affair but then who saw the trailers and though "oh, this seems like a really enlightened and progressive movie" ?

Also, right in front of me was a middle aged lady who seemed to be having the time of her life and enjoyed the hell of the movie

You could say the same about most superhero films. When film makers start catering to SJW, that will be the end of good movie making as we know it.

They already make these movies... they just don't make much of any kind of money and usually are relegated to indie status because mainstream audiences got to the movie theater to be entertained, not get lectured about safe spaces.

Games suffer from the same thing; a bunch of SJW games exist these days but no one buys them. Now you got a bunch of third-wave feminist SJWs (beta cucks and females alike) saying that capitalism is sexist, yadda, yadda, yadda.

As a girl who was taken to see this movie on a date, I think I ended up liking it more than the guy :P

but I like comic books and video games so the more graphic parts of the movie didn't bother me. I think it would depend on the girl. The movie's opening credits are very violent/graphic and it doesn't let up much from there. There is also a scene where they're in a strip club/brothel place and boobs are shown. There are a couple of badass fighter girls in it. I didn't think of it as misogynistic, but I could see how it would not be some girls cup of tea.

Basically, if you can't decide if she'd like or not on your own, I would kind of warn her it's a violent, video game-esque kinda movie. If she's ok with it, I would recommend seeing it. It's a fun movie :)

My girlfriend also liked it much more than I did.

It is a pretty fun movie.

Same here. I really enjoyed it and my husband just said "Interesting..." at the end.

I'm a feminist, and wasn't offended by the damsel scenario or the hookers, cuz ya know, every woman is different. It's okay for someone to need help. Even John McClane needed help from the cops and paramedics. It's okay to be a hooker. Gotta live your own life. No job is totally glamorous. I'd rather be a upscale hooker than writing coding... that's me.

Now will everyone be glad to see this movie? No. Some people will think it's too violent and cliche and boobies should be covered up... blah blah blah, but I thought it was tons of fun.

Boobies are for breastfeeding, I whip em out to feed my son all the time. No big deal. I was breastfeeding him while watching this. He enjoyed the soundtrack and danced and clapped. I concurred.

If you think your gf will hate most of the movies you want to see, maybe find out for sure and then maybe get a new girlfriend. You should be able to have fun together. Couples that won't hang out together are just doomed.

Just like my girlfriend, at least she used to.
Don't let people put you down because of your hobbies or your gender. It's alright.

To the OP - I'm a female and liked the movie, but then, I'm an avid video game fan. Is this a first date type of movie you're taking her on? Does she like video games?

Otherwise, they made this movie with the male demographic in mind -- some girls might not like the movie; it would depend on her interests.

I think you missed the new feminism philosophy which is summarized by Anita Sarkeesian's statement, "Everything is misogyny."

So yes Hardcore Henry is misogonist and so is toothpaste, baseball, lampposts and well everything.

If you're that scared of offending her you already lost the game. RIP

Touche!

And btw you should take her to see The Boss, the greatest film of our generation. It's still running at my local cinema, and large crowds have been seen weeping with joy outside the theater. It will obviously sweep the Oscars next year.

I've seen it 14 times now, and it just gets better every time I see it. I give it an A++, and if the late, great Roger Ebert were alive I'm confidant that he would give it six stars.

So don't bother with that silly HH movie. RUN, do not walk, to see The Boss, a cinematic masterpiece!

Whoa! Had to look that one up, though I guessed the meaning by the context you used it in. According to Google, the spelling is misandric.
