Simon Pegg romantic lead.
Have just seen the trailer and despite a London setting, a cast of great British thespians and the gorgeous Lake Bell, I just cannot believe Simon Pegg as any sort of romantic lead. Shan't be going.

shareHe's the reason I watched this film. He's great! And I totally buy him as a romantic lead.
shareHe is completely unconvincing as a rom com lead. The only thing he is good at is as a moderately funny sidekick in a supporting role. I remember the days when he used to be really funny. Sadly these are long gone. He has done another recent crap unfunny comedy where he thinks things and they become reality. That was plainly bad
shareand that is your opinion.
shareI totally agree with you! In fact, I started to seeing him handsome, even! But not in a very deep level of handsomeness (?).
I liked and enjoyed the fact that he was in touch with his feelings -the crying in the bathroom scene-. It was nice and somehow refreshing.
The fact that he admitted -maybe not the most suitable word- defeat was nice for a change!
Peggs' character is a lot like Lake Bell's character's dad.
shareYou're not willing to accept Pegg as a romantic lead but you accept Lake Bell as "gorgeous." I LOL'd.
He who makes a beast of himself gets rid of the pain of being a man.
Just because Simon Pegg doesn't look like Brad Pitt doesn't mean he can't be a romantic lead. I'm so tired of the attitude that main characters have to be gorgeous. Pegg is attractive, smart, funny, and talented, and he's a great lead, romantic or otherwise. We viewers want different, more natural actors in movies. I'll take Pegg's offbeat looks and sense of humor over chiseled faces and hard pecs any day. It's refreshing to see average-looking people in romantic roles because it makes the characters and stories more relatable. I hope someday soon people will stop criticizing "normal" people who have the audacity to be the stars of movies.
shareI watched this because of Simon Pegg, and find him extremely attractive in this. Sexy, even. Would never have used the term "gorgeous" for Lake Bell, but she did well in this movie.
shareSame here. For a few minutes I thought he was looking a little thin and aged, but I soon got past that. I've always found him attractive, from Spaced and Black Books right on through to this. Moreover, his character in this film was funny and charming, which made him all the more attractive.
