Left after 44 min wth crying 8 yr
Really. My son was so looking forward to seeing this, then after about 35 min I noticed he was in tears. He was really shaken and sad.
So, I wouldn't advise going with a child under 10.

My friends little girl was scared by the tiger jumping out of the tall grass and was crying, but she was fine once the bear showed up
But yeah the early parts of the film are a little intense for small kids

I've read reviews praising this film for bringing back intense to children's films similar to the 1980's. This is praised because it shows children not all situations are sunshine and rainbows and sometimes there's more at stake than just feelings. Most kids can handle it. Not all.
shareHeh. And I just made a topic talking about the lack of intensity. Was there even a single point in the movie where Mowgli actually looked scared? I don't recall even one frightened expression on his face.
If you want intensity in a kids movie, you've still gotta look back to the likes of The NeverEnding Story, The Dark Crystal, Return to Oz and Gremlins.
Gremlins! That would be traumatic as hell for kids, even by today's standards.
shareWhy?
shareI find it too realistic looking for such small kids.
On the other hand, what do I know, I don't have any.

My 6 year old daughter is the biggest drip in the world. She gets scared at Tinkerbell cartoons. She was fine with this, as was her 5 year old brother. I'm not sure what spooked your 8 year old but I can assure you your child's reaction is the exception not the rule.
shareYour child needs to harden the F up!!! : )
Mr Annnderson.....!
