Left after 44 min wth crying 8 yr
Really. My son was so looking forward to seeing this, then after about 35 min I noticed he was in tears. He was really shaken and sad.
So, I wouldn't advise going with a child under 10.

Was it really that scary for kids, or is your son just very sensitive?

Wow, worthless, aren't you? It's unbelievable that you took time to insult an 8yr old and his mom, whom you don't even know, for no reason at all.
shareI think you should be proud that your son has so much empathy. It also speaks well of the film that he cared so much about the characters. It's a brutal story. Mowgli is taken away from his 'wolf pack' he is attacked by a tiger and is thrown onto a stampede. Then his father is killed by the tiger who threatened Mowgli. You should be proud that your son is so sensitive. Maybe some eight year old's aren't affected so deeply. Aren't so sensitive or maybe your son hasn't been desensitized like a lot of kids are by violent video games and movies. Don't worry. He'll get desensitized soon enough.
shareThank you so much.
shareAmerica is what an episode on "The Simpsons" described Itchy and Scratchy Land as being: "the most violentest place on earth." Not only do we have more homicides than other countries in the West, for decades we've murdered millions of people around the globe either directly or by proxy. For profit.
American entertainment is saturated with weaponry and violence, and the people here have stopped noticing it. This film had plenty of sudden, scary scenes, even for an adult. So, movie-makers and goers, let's get the kids hooked on our callous attitude towards human life, especially non-American lives. Let's keep watching pornographically frightening "entertainment" so we won't notice our murder rate or do anything to stop our sociopathic leaders from flirting with a nuclear World War III with Russia and China.
I saw it last night with my 7yr old son, he jumped a few times in the traditional jolt scenes and handled the death okay.
Before seeing the movie with a young child, you could check out Common Sense Media report of the movie and it tells you all you need to know going in and prepare your kid for a sudden death or jolt scenes.
(spoiler alerts obv)
