South Park has been pandering for years then..
How else would you describe their shtick? They make it for certain people. Like most shows.

shareSouth Park goes after everyone, what are you on?
shareWhat does "going after" mean in relation to Star Wars?
shareIt means that South Park doesn’t have an agenda, they simply do not hesitate to call the kettle black, if you’re acting like a horse’s ass, South Park is going to make fun of you.
And as to your “audience’s sense of superiority” comment beneath this one, anyone who takes themselves so seriously that they can not laugh or find humor in someone else poking at them from time to time, is exactly what you described, an asshat with a superiority complex.
Is this about finding humor or "going after" people?
The reactions to this aren't exactly about humor. They are all "Fuck yeah! My attitude is being endorsed. Fuck Kathleen Kennedy. I was right all the time and she's a bitch. South Park says so!"
EVERYONE says so

Really? Does South Park ever truly polarise their regular audience or do something they think might offend a portion of it and not care?
shareYes, leaving season 1 on a cliffhanger, and the continuing season 2 with a Terrance and Phillip episode really pissed people off.
Other than that, I still need you to define who that core audience is, to determine if they ever tried to offend them. I think they try to be funny, and they have little regard for who they are offending, but if we are talking specifics I need it defined.
There's a difference between pandering and people resonating with your work because it rings true and is hilarious.
shareI would describe their schtick as even handed. If they are pandering who exactly are they pandering to? Who haven’t they gone after?
shareThey pander to their audience's sense of superiority.
BTW. I don't think South Park, or anyone for that matter, is criticising Lucasfilm for not being even handed with who they "pander" to.
And what does "going after" have to do with Star Wars?
Your responses don’t make any sense. Did you make a typo somewhere? You topic says that South Park has been pandering for years, and that is what I responded to. Why are you talking about Star Wars?
