Dreadful film - little more than a Jon Favreau wet dream

Honestly: what a crock of *beep* Ripping off the popularity of TV cooking shows / chefs and then asking the audience to believe that this charmless, self-centered, slobbish, oaf of a deadbeat dad is irresistible to 2 women at least 20 years younger and 2000 times hotter than him. I know many women aren't as focused on looks as men are (sweeping generalisation I know!), but this guy had all the charisma of a tennis racket and less than a quarter of the sex appeal.

A totally unbelievable film featuring an unlikeable lead character who treated his son, his colleagues and his 'squeezes' as bit-part players in his story. One of the worst films I've seen in quite a while.

I got this film for my birthday. Only watched it once and that was when i got it. I didn't laugh once.

Why not!

I agree, this movie is bs.

It made me smile. A lot. So it worked for me. And Jon Favreau was pretty hot 10 years ago, so it's not all that unrealistic that he could have landed a hottie like Inez.

I don't know where you get the idea that he was portrayed as "irresistible to 2 women at least 20 years younger", though. Sofia Vergara is only 6 years younger. And I get the feeling they reconciled because he became the father she wanted him to be; not because of his animal magnetism. If that were the case she'd have gone back to Robert Downey Jr.. While Scarlett Johansson is NEARLY (not AT LEAST) 20 years younger, I didn't get the feeling she found him "irresistible", but that they were friends-with-benefits.

reply

My thoughts exactly. Scarlett Johansson just happened to be there ready to have sex any time...

reply

Yes exactly, it was all his big wet stupid dream. Also sucks how all those hollywood idiots go running to help him make it too. They all just help each other out, rather than giving someone else a chance at success.

reply

Totally agree with the OP. I bailed out when they went to Miami.
