Why does Reed go to the effort of doing the things that he does? Is he a psycho who gets off on control and killing, or does he really care about dispelling people's illusions about religion? I'm having trouble understanding why he would do any of this. It's not like his contrived set-up would convince a true believer, but neither did he seem to take any pleasure in killing or harming people. As others have said, it all feels quite pointless.
shareA few times he says " there is only 1 true religion " and " you have to go downstairs to find out" or something like that, I think what he means is that according to him all religions do not exist except satanism and the devil, and the proof is because there are humans like him who exist on earth who do evil things like torturing the girls in the basement; that all other religions there is no real hard evidence that they exist but satanism/devil exist because evil cruel horrile people like him do exist and those people are the evidence.
