Will it be woke?
James has said he's basing his character on Andrew Tate
shareYes it's woke. The ending was altered to shove in a Woke agenda. The man is portrayed as a pussy while his 'girl boss' wife swoops in to save the family from a life-threatening situation. The underlying message is clear: all men are either weak and useless or strong and inherently dangerous and toxic.
shareThe ending is a double crime.
Not only do they scrap the incredible and haunting ending of the European original - which reveals the entire purpose of the story… they replace it with not just a lame happy ending (as Hollywood did with The Vanishing all those years ago) but a fucking patronising dogshit woke ending.
To think I nearly watched the Hollyweird version. So glad I saw the Euro original. I’ll keep it that way unless I’m in the mood for something to hate-watch.
I had already seen the original but just watched this version tonight. Reading your post would have saved me some time.
Destroying the whole point of the movie that people are overcivilized to the point of being hapless victims unto death so that the now cliche strong woman could save the day...
What a piece of shit.
The original is clearly an allegory for the Muslim invasion of Scandinavian countries and the softness and tolerance of Europeans who let themselves be pushed around. Europeans, in their misguided tolerance, allow savages from other countries to come in, do as they please, and impose their culture on them, to their own detriment.
shareThat doesn't seem too far off the mark.
Also, I hope the conclusion of the year is working out well for you. Best wishes from a fellow traveler and moviechat provocateur.
Thank you for the kind words, Semi. I hope you have a wonderful holiday season and that the end of the year treats you well. Wishing you and your family happiness and good health as we head into the new year.
