not great.

how does a horror movie with no major stars and a single location cost that much ???

Good question.

It got a decent promotional push, too, I think. People complain about all the sequels and remakes, but it can be a struggle to get them to show up for something new.

This seems like one of those movies that'll do well streaming, at least.

28 mill budget is pretty low - the acting/sfx were all decent enough - I imagine it will make its money back

200 mill movies are generally money laundering operations -

28 million is not low for a horror movie, it may be standard for a studio picture, but low budget would be under 15m

box Office run is essentially over, Universal has already released to streaming. maybe another 10m in the tank, won't be profitable in theaters

Melissa Barrera is a fairly well known name from Scream. Her salary might’ve been high

The vampire CGI scenes were probably expensive
