One of the few sequels I’ve ever looked forward to, and Mann has my full confidence given that he wrote the novel, screenplay and will be directing this film, let’s get it on!

shareI’m not saying that it doesn’t have the possibility to be a let down, just that I have faith in Mann to do the film justice.
And the fact that it is both a prequel as well as a sequel tied into one,
Godfather II sort of thing, works better imo than a straight sequel. We get back story, more character world building, more of a reason to empathize, sympathize, or even loath the characters on the screen.
And I’m a fan of Driver, he gets a lot of hate on this board but imo he is a fine actor, maybe not exceptional like De Niro was, but extremely competent in his craft.
How is it a sequel?? McCauley's dead, Chris is whereabouts unknown with a new identity, Tom Sizemore's character is dead??
shareI haven’t read the novel because I want to see the film with fresh eyes, but I can say with utter certainty it is both a prequel/sequel film.
For those that know, please spoiler cover as to the how/why, although I can assume it has to do with Chris and Vincent.
I looked at some of the reviews for the novel and it seems that we find out what Chris gets up to after the events of the film.

seems like a cash in on the first movie's rep.
that said I'd be happier if they just used completely different characters and the heat 2 name was just there to indicate Mann's involvement
maybe they should call this one Preheat : )

i read the summary of the book (released in 2022) and it's a simple cash grab.
