Based on this, why not call the gringos 'whitey'? Whenever one of Pablo's black henchmen appear they get called 'Blackie', and I found myself cringing :(.

There was a famous baseball manager for the St Louis Cardinals called Whitey Herzog. He was a white dude. Everybody called him that.
We don't really know why or how Blackie got his nickname. But he was an actual guy in Escobar's cartel.
I totally remember that scene that Ser is referencing. I went back and wrote down the dialog, here's how it goes:
Pablo: Blackie? Where's Blackie?
Blackie #1: You mean me patron?
Pablo: No not you Blackie. The other Blackie.
Michael from Lost: I'm over here patron, sorry just got back from the orthodontist.
Pablo: Bueno, Blackie, take Blackie with you and go get Blackie.

Pablo: (to himself) Ay Cabron. (Out loud) No you're the Blackie they're supposed to go get.
Blackie #3: I know who you're talking about Patron, I'll go tell him to come over right away. I just saw him down the street playing dominoes with what's his name?

Blackie #3: Chingame, I always forget that dude's name.
If I remember correctly, there was Blackie, and Blackbeard (the accountant who was busted), and another character named Blackie who was part of Escobars pre drug smuggling crew (he was pictured only, I don't believe his character was in the series).
