... no matter what hollywood and movies like this try to imply.
Keep fighting the good fight, even the severely disabled have a lot to contribute. NEVER give up! It's taking the test and passing it that bring rewards on the other side of all this pain.
Agreed..have you ever watched Japanese drama "One Litre of Tears"..the girl have been disabled slowly at a very young age..yet she does'nt kill herself, even fall in love..no matter what..live the life that god gives you..
no matter what..live the life that god gives you..
I don't believe in God. For those who don't believe in God, your post makes absolutely no sense . No offence meant, just pointing out that not everyone sees life as "God's gift". I would rather die than suffer, and only I could be in the position to judge what I can or can't bear in life, to "measure" my suffering, not others.
"Please, if you are trying to convert me, this isn't a good time"

As much as I resent the idea that suicide should be encouraged... something JUST as bad, is denying people the right to express they want it.
Trying to silence them can not only isolate them more, it can also belittle their experience, as if you have any real concept of what it's like to be them.
I don't want anyone to end their own life, but I also don't want to tell people who really want to - for WHATEVER reason - and have wanted to for a long time, that they're just going to have to keep it to themselves and do it alone.
My best friend's grandfather wanted to die for years before he finally stuck a shotgun in his mouth with his grandson in the next room. He wanted to die. He had a right to go with dignity. And no - he wasn't disabled.
People have different reasons to want suicide - and MOST of them are able to move past it, which is incredibly admirable and commendable and should ALWAYS be encouraged. That said, if you can't move past it, you deserve the space to talk about that openly without people instantly trying to shut you up with NO YOU CAN'T NO YOU DON'T and you deserve to leave this earth in a peaceful way.
Forcing and condemning a person to a life of suffering when they are of sane mind and fully in adulthood already and thus able to make a well informed life altering decision.
Is no different from putting them in a specialist CIA centre and torturing them daily. Last time I checked, human torture is considered illegal.
People should be allowed to make such a choice if they desire and need to. No one should be tortured in life no matter what you think out of whatever stupid reasons you may think you have or know.
My grandmother was a proud, strong woman who used to smuggle messages for the resistance during WWII. She helped rebuild my country, raised a family and volunteered her entire life.
At the end of her life she was blind, deaf, incontinent, in constant pain from a failed operation, bedridden, throwing up because all the medication had ruined her stomach and demented 95% of the time.
Each birthday she would be inconsolable because her husband, daughter and brother didn't come to visit her and I couldn't bring myself to tell her she and I were the only two people still alive in the family every 30 minutes. In her lucent moments she asked to die almost constantly !
Allthough euthanasia is completly legal in my country she was unlucky to end up in a catholic hospital who simply refused to end her suffering. In the end the doctors and the nurses stopped giving her fluids so she died of thirst in a long battle that took 36hours.
This magnificent woman of the golden generation wasn't even given the respect we give a wounded animal so please spare me the BS about "the good fight". Quality over quantity
