did anyone else think that this had a very similar feel to the first season of true detective?

No. I enjoyed season 1 of True Detective. I erroneously wanted more seasons. Not for nothing, why are you on a film board, given your username?

i agree that td 1 was much better, but i was just referring to the atmosphere or the overall feel of the way it was shot and directed.

my username refers to the alleged movie site "Filmboards" specifically, not movie sites in a general sense.

Thought the same thing. Definitely had a similar style as far as presentation goes.

No, AvoidFilmboards. The atmosphere of this show is as bogus as the final piece that Camille wrote. No one in this show does any decent investigating job, not by the "such a dick" FBI, not by the incompetent sheriff, definitely not by the drunk and promiscuous female journalist. As the result, they put a wrong person behind the bar and one more innocent girl died.

The murders are secondary to the family drama. I found it lacking.
