Stupidest Shit I’ve Ever Seen Yet.

I’m sorry for the slightly profane heading of my post but c’mon now.

Let me see if I get this straight. They go on ahead & arrest Adora for poisoning Camille, Amna & possibly murder for Marian’s death & also for the other murders & the genius that Amna is, when she’s scott free of the whole thing is she goes on & kills her new best friend & does it the same exact way (strangle, pulling the teeth, etc) that she did to the other girls & now of course everyone knows she did it by now.

Even though they didn’t show the murder of the girl & the teeth part, I know this because my girlfriend who read the novel explained it all to me. But the absurdity of it all is they don’t bother showing or explaining any of that in the final moments of the finale. Big deal, Camille finds a tooth (girlfriend also told me in the novel the dollhouse rug was made of human hair that she took from her victims), Amna comes in & whispers “don’t tell mama”

WHAT?! THATS IT?!! That’s the big payoff? That’s how this shit ended? After watching this dredge on for 10 episodes, this is how the series concluded? Man what a rip! It really was. Again my gf told me in the novel they naturally catch Amna when she kills someone else the way again....in Chicago no less. She said that Camille visits her in jail/loony bin & asks her how she could have done such a thing & she forgets exactly what Amna said.

But the book details how Amna killed the 2 girls in Wind Gap WITH THE HELP from her friends who held them down while she strangled them. Showing what a malicious psychopathic bitch Amna AND her friends really were. Her crew was as guilty as hell as she was. You reading this wouldn’t fucking know ANY of this by watching the finale which didn’t bother to explain shit to anybody.

Oh yeah, btw this drives Camille over the edge & she tries the self cutting thing on her face this time in someone’s bathroom but they break the door down & stop her & from then on they serve as surrogate parents & take care of her.

I’m amazed that HBO wimped & skimped out the way they did. What was it? They didn’t have the balls to graphically show the murders? Seriously wtf?! BAD JOB! guys. Bad job. If they let it play out half the way the book ended it then I could see where this might merit some discussion Monday morning. But as it stands it was a God awful way to end what was a so-so series to begin with. What emotional impact was there in this dreck? What big reveal? At least the novel had some, this didn’t.

P.S, btw I did see that after the credits started to roll, after a few seconds they did show or feebly tried to show Amna kill the girls. It lasted only a few seconds & all you saw was Amna with a mean grimace on her face which amounted to nothing anyway but I’d thought I’d mention it.

Oh you missed the scene after the credits shows her and the crew committing first two murders and then her killing new friend. Without that after credit scene I agree flat ending .

reply

You did read where I mentioned the after credits scene in my post righ Kick0518? So I don’t understand why you would reply asking me that. Reading is fundamental you know. Again & so what of it? That hastily put together scene which was just a snippet which didn’t amount to half a trailer was enough for you to be satisfied & call this “fair?”

Some people are placated far too easily.

I think you missed the whole thing. Maybe the book was different but this was really good. They give you all the clues and still there is this twist - the ivory floor. It was there all along.

reply

Overall I really liked it.

And the girl's name is Amma not Amna.

reply

Yeah, I think the scene in the middle of the credits was an attempt to just be different, artistic, stylistic, fashionable, etc. that really just leaves people a bit confused and pissed off. Then right at the end you see a shot where it is revealed that Emma was the "lady in white" and not her mom.

This sort of renders the whole "mom was killing her own kids" plot line as tangential and unnecessary. So the series is about solving these child murders. Older daughter is hired by paper to write about investigation. Murderer ends up being younger sister and her friends.

But also the mother poisoned one daughter, and is trying to poison her other two daughters.

I think they were trying to maintain a thread of subtlety in not showing too much. I didn't mind it, however for me, I couldn't really buy this young girl being a/the murderer (during this episode, I actually thought the GF with the weirdly deformed ear did it).

I actually didn't stick around for the end credits, will have to go back and catch that.

Sorry you didn't like it. I do like the way you took the time to capitalize every word in your (carefully chosen?) post title though-- nice touch.

You need to go back to see the credits... Which is what the producers wanted us to do...they wanted people to miss it, and then to find out about it, and then to go back and rewind and rewatch.
Silly ploy but guess what? It worked.

Amma killed the girls, not Adora. Amma didnt want Adora caring for anyone else. She didnt want Camille in the end, to like her new friend.
Adoras floor was made of elephant tusks,,real ivory, hence the teeth pulling by Amma...to replicate that floor.
Adora is guilty of Munchhausen by Proxy... sickening her daughters so she would feel needed. She might have killed Marion by accident though, by going too far.
Adora dosent know Amma killed he girls, hence Amma saying at the end "dont tell mom"

Im going to read the book. It goes more in depth. You can google some interviews with the author,, it explains quite a bit.

I definitely thought the mom had all of the murders pinned on her. Don't know if she was convicted for the murders or just the attempts on her daughter. But still makes no sense on the whole woman in white thing. Does the little sister lure her friends into the woods or something? And why the hell are her other friends helping her commit murder? Peer pressure? Is homicide the cool thing to do now?

This show is pissing me off more and more by the minute.

reply

LOL dont be pissed off, but I totally get it.

The mother might have been convicted of killing her first daughter Marion. Amma wasnt born yet so she didnt do it.

The other girls that helped Amma do the killings were mean girls that formed a pack, and felt it was a cool thing to do. It happens in real life as well. Kids take other kids into the woods and gang up on them. Its awful, but true.

The woman in white thing confused me too,,, but I believe she was being the Goddess she talked about when she was at that ham dinner at the end. Amma was one evil girl, but stems from not wanting her mother and then now Camille to like or give attention to anyone else but her. She strives for perfection in her moms eyes... thats why she pulled the teeth. Her moms floor was made of real ivory,,,she wanted her dollhouse to look and be the same.

reply

You understand Amma was sick? She had a sick urge probably caused by Adora's treatment of her throughout her childhood...

And therefore she didn't worry about getting away with the murders... I was something her sick mind made her do without any concern with the consequence of her actions...

reply

It was retarded. As if any homicidal gang could keep a secret, much less Smartphone using teenagers.

And after the most recent murder, it would've been game over.
