My great uncle was Hitler Youth. He was conscripted but not indoctrinated. He fled as soon as he could with his family, west, as a kid. My grandpa was conscripted into the Wehrmacht, he fled as soon as he could. My family is Donauswabian, ethnic German from the former Jugoslavia. They had to billet German servicemen, and then end up being conscripted. They had no reason to fight. They got out as soon as they could during the confusion at the end of the war. They, fortunately, never had to fight.
There would be no reason to be offended. That was the Hitlerjugend. They were just kids. They didn't know any better.
