He dies?

Did I imagine it, or in one of the opening scenes when they are rehearsing their lines, doesn't someone say "he tried to shoot himself, and he couldn't even do that properly"?! If so, is Riggan living out the play like he suggested.
shareEvery scene of him having "powers" were symbolic or "in his mind"; it's clearly shown when his smashing his room with "powers" but when Galfandiakis character gets in the room, we see its himself doing the trashing.
So in the last scene, wee see Emma Stone stare down and a look of horror - reality. He jumped, and died.
Then she switches to look up and smile - fantasy/ "he's flying" - he's "free" or "himself again."
His daughter looks down first, can't see him, then looks around and then looks up before she smiles and starts laughing. I dunno, what do you make of that? It seems to me like he was flying.
shareHis daughter was obsessed with his popularity and how many followers he had on Twitter and Facebook. When she saw him dead on the sidewalk, she realized that he would now be front page news and the talk of the town. This would be even bigger than him streaking around the block in his underwear. She also realized that she could sue the hospital for having a window that could easily be opened, risking what had just happened.
Or maybe, after looking down from a ledge the whole movie herself, she finally saw where that was leading, and decided it was time to finally lighten up.
