If J.J. Abrahms was allowed to write and direct all 3 **SPOILERS**

...would Snoke have been the main villain in Rise of Skywalker? It seems they brought back Emperor Palpatine to fill the void of Snoke having been killed in The Last Jedi.

reply

Most likely. But Abrams's trilogy very likely mirrors the original trilogy, making it a remake or copycat trilogy.

reply

But that's the GENIUS of Abrams' plan, to have HIS trilogy REPLACE the OT!

reply

Replace is a strong word. But if we watch the original trilogy now we will see it as dated. Even TESB is slow at times, some dialogues were not well acted and delivered. If Abrams could create an updated trilogy, he would definitely be remembered, his trilogy could be placed as equal compare to the original trilogy if not better.

But his plan was ruined mostly because of Rian Johnson and Kathleen Kennedy, they tried to do something different, but without the talents and capabilities of achieving it. Neither seems to have even the basic understanding of star wars mythology.

Also Abrams's first movie was faulted at elevating Rey as a feminist symbol beyond all reasoning, but I don't fault him for doing that, he was hired to do a job. The fault was clearly with Kathleen Kennedy. It's her political agenda and poor planning caused the current mess.

reply

In any case, I'm DONE with Star Wars. I'm fed up of the endless bickering between fans, the retconning of old movies in favour of new ones, the complete dismissal of whole trilogies "just because they weren't good" and all of that bull$hit. I'm also realising how silly the whole thing actually is. They really are kids' movies, and it's time for us all to grow up.

reply

I kind of understand. By the look of it now the revival of franchise has failed, at least half of the box office numbers are due to the old cast and they are not coming back. Nothing new for people to get excited about or worth remembering.

reply

Baby Yoda!!!!!!!!

reply

That is from "The Mandalorian", right? Not from new movies.

Yoda is still an old character, not something new. There is nothing exciting about baby Yoda, people are excited mostly because they want to see Yoda again.

reply

Iger said he wants to concentrate on TV shows instead of movies.

"people are excited mostly because they want to see Yoda again."
Nope. Baby Yoda is so freaking cute and adorable.

Baby Yoda being adorable for 2 minutes straight:

reply

I am talking about new concepts or new aliens. Not derivative characters like baby Yoda. I bet when you see baby Yoda, the first thing comes to your mind is "Is this an origin story for Yoda?" or "Does Yoda look like that when he was little?".

reply

We're not going to get any new characters or stories with Disney. Just rehashing from the OT. Disney SW fanfilms.

I don't blame the fans. That's Iger who thinks this is what fans want and refuses to take any risks which creativity and originality require.

I assumed he's from Yoda's home planet.

I'm hoping Disney loses money and sells it back to Lucas. In the meantime, I have plenty of Lucas era novels to read from the library.

reply

Was force heal in the books?

reply

Yes. It's a light power that some Jedi are very skilled doing.

It's even in the games because the characters can heal themselves after injuries.

reply

I guess better late than never in your case huh??? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I have enjoyed these films as a whole. I never bought into the whole SJW bullshit. We get a girl protagonist and everyone goes apeshit. We are told Luke,Leia and Han will be in them but only as supporting players. It's pretty much what happens and than everyone goes apeshit. Fans claim they don't want more of the same, yet they want more of the same.....As evidenced by their hatred of Rey and the sequels and their love of the Mandalorian. They really wanted he OT back....end of story.

Anyhow, I really don't care what fandom in general thinks. I enjoyed all the films. Some more than others. ROTS is my favorite and I grew up on the OT.

There are also other Franchises out there. Some better imo that I enjoy. So I have moved on long ago.

reply

I don't think you can be so dismissive about peoples reactions to Rey.

It wasn't that Rey was female that was the issue for people, it was the fact that Rey was super awesome at everything that got up peoples noses.

The OT was as much about the journey of Luke for him to become worthy and good enough to fight his father and win.

In Star Wars, it would have been laughable for Luke to take anyone on with a light sabre, he was barely coping with those training drones, yet Rey not only needs no training, she wipes the floor with Kylo Ren in their first encounter.

She flies the Millennium Falcon better than the guy thats owned it the longest, even though theres absolutely ZERO to suggest an orphan being abandoned on a planet would ever get the chance to train to fly like that.

The fact Rey is a female is utterly irrelevant to peoples problem, it took Luke 3 movies to become a Jedi, Rey basically achieved that before her first movie was over.

I'm all for putting women in better roles, Leia is a good example, but Rey is not.

Its clear the message of empowerment came before the story.

The story should always come first.

reply

Shes more like Anakin than Luke ..

reply

"I never bought into the whole SJW bullshit. We get a girl protagonist and everyone goes apeshit."

There are fans who have a problem with a woman heading Lucasfilms also. She's being blamed for the bad movies, but fans are refusing to give her any credit for the good ones or the Mandalorian TV show. Meanwhile, Iger is completely ignored in his role. Fans were in attack mode before Force Awakens was released when they complained about a black stormtrooper. Too many racists and misogynists in the toxic fandom. It wasn't always like this.

"As evidenced by their hatred of Rey and the sequels and their love of the Mandalorian. They really wanted he OT back....end of story. "

Filoni understands the SW universe and that shows in the writing. Many fans liked Force Awakens including myself. Last Jedi did a lot of damage and Rise is horrible.

reply

Frame this!

reply

Very well put!

reply

The Disney Trilogy wasn't only not good. These 3 movies represent the worst ways possible to make movies. I hope this isn't the direction Hollywood is taking going-forward.

reply

"But if we watch the original trilogy now we will see it as dated."

Constant "action" with no story nor character development is boring. Maybe today's younger audiences have a shorter attention span.

"The fault was clearly with Kathleen Kennedy."

Kennedy was doing Iger's bidding. Read his book about how he stabbed Lucas in the back and used his own dumb ideas for rehashing the OT to death.

"It's her political agenda and poor planning caused the current mess."
Princess Leia and PadmΓ© were feminist characters, too. The difference has to do with better writing.

reply

I think we can agree that Leia and Padme are nothing like the all knowing and all powerful Rey in TFA.

reply

LOL. Agreed.

reply

But Luke is exactly like Rey...πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

reply

Luke failed constantly even with Yoda's teaching, the original trilogy is a growth story.

Rey did not even need teaching.

I don't want to get into these arguments because that was already overly done when TFA came out, and there were so many shameless feminists will just keep denying the difference.

reply

Luke had ten minutes of training on the Falcon and was able to force move by the beginning of ESB....

Rey received more training in TLJ. In TFA....she like "Baby Yoda" have a natural ability. Where is the outrage for baby yodas ability???

Why cant those, who constantly cry SJW....just admit that Jedi Force powers and ability HAVE NEVER BEEN CONSISTENT FROM MOVIE TO MOVIE. NEVER....ANH and ESB and ROTJ started this trend....it's nothing new...

The problem is these fans wanted a LUKE type character or LUKE back himself as the central role ..if Rey had been a male we wouldn't be having these conversations....

reply

Another Rey defender. She doesn't need defending.

reply

I liked Rey and I like Daisy Ridley. She was the best thing about these movies .

reply

Kennedy was doing Iger's bidding. Read his book about how he stabbed Lucas in the back and used his own dumb ideas for rehashing the OT to death.

Kennedy is a rich woman, her livelihood does not depend on her job. If what you said is true then she is a yes woman without any backbone, that is even worse.

reply

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA - abrams fankid anyone?

reply

Jar Jar Abrams, Kathleen Kennedy, and Rian Johnson are gonna take a hella lot of flak for this Disney Fail Trilogy.
