Will it flop or are there too many indifferent people
Because people like US food, too.
shareNope. It won't flop, but it won't be a big success as Force Awakens. Many people will watch it to close the trilogy, though. The next trilogy is gonna have it much harder, though.
shareI doubt there will be any more trilogies for adults. They will try to make money from toys, cartoons and star wars kiddie shows on Disney+.
shareOh, I'll watch it after it's run. On a 7 day free trial of Disney+ for instance.
shareIt's going to be tough to tell from the box office, because there's no way to know how many seats Disney is buying to cook the numbers.
The real tell that the movie franchise has failed already is that the movies have been put on hiatus, and the merch isn't selling.

That is the depressing fact. it will make money, probaby a billion but im hopng not. But the real depressing fact is that they have wasted a huge oppurtunity.
How hard is it to make a Star Wars film, good vs evil, have Han, Luke, Chewie and Leia kicking ass one last time, not regurgitate the same crap while systematically destroying the original characters.
The have made 4.5 billion from Star Wars films but done right it could have been double that not including what they would have made from toys and merch. Everyone raced out to get those Rose Tico and Holdo toys didn't they, they are fun to pay with, delusional Disney.
Hey, it's been fun with the Marvel staple but that too is rather boring now. Endgame was lame-ish and Far from home was weak sauce.
As a lifelong Star Wars fan, it brings my blood to a boil to think about this. This was Disney's to lose. They had a golden goose. This wasn't rocket science. All they had to do is give fans what they want and construct an even halfway decent story. But no--they decided to do NOTHING new, insert politics that no one asked for into it and INSULT both the original characters, original movies and us, the fans.
This was Ghostbusters 2016 but on a mammoth scale.
It really is a black eye on the franchise that might never heal.
I expect this film to make the same box office TLJ did. I mean all the same people pissed off at that movie are gonna sit through this one too.
It's not even just these movies being such miscalculations. Doing crap like disowning the entire EU did them no favors.
No chance it will outright flop like Solo did, theres too many curious people that will want to see if its the trainwreck they hope it is.
Plenty of people were not going to see Captain Marvel, but, so they could moan about it, went to see it, so they could moan about it.
Solo wasn't a needed movie, Rise of Skywalker is closing a trilogy.
Plenty of people want to know if JJ can undo some of the damage of TLJ, but like that movie, Rise of Skywalker needs great word of mouth right out the gate, because if it performs like TLJ or even worse, it will damage the Star Wars brand.
After Rise of Skywalker, Kennedy is out. There is ZERO chance that Rise of Skywalker tops or gets anywhere close to Force Awakens.
But for the movie to outright flop, is a mathematical impossibility. I'm largely indifferent to the movie, but when a cheap showing is available, i'll go see it with my son, but the days of me watching a Star Wars movie at midnight are over.
Plenty of people like me, that will ensure that the movie makes a profit.
At this point, Rise of Skywalker will be considered a success if it bests The Last Jedis Box Office, if it does less......
