100% there will be some reference to 'natives' or something that the horses come from, perhaps how their land is being unjustly taken from them etc.

It's not as much "politically correct" as it is just reality. Black men with white women has almost become the norm in society...the Rule rather than the exception.
P.S.- Let me be clear that there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
Well, you're right. Women use to marry up. In societies based in racial castes, as the modern western society, they tend to partner the top caste. So white women looking for black men so they can increase their social status is a logical consequence.
