First photo from Ep. IX might be implying that The Last Jedi can be forgotten and skipped

This is just my own view... Based on what Abrams has said, I have a strong feeling he's doing IX as a direct sequel to The Force Awakens, and can largely ignore Last Jedi, other than Luke's death.

Here is the first photo on Abrams' new Twitter page, from the first day of shooting:

Notice the emblem on the side of the camera only says VII, and IX.

Now that may be because Abrams is the director for both of those, but to me, it's an implication that only VII and IX will be important to this, and will contain as much as possible of the trilogy story that he originally wanted to tell (as he wrote rough scripts for all three when he did VII).

I like that pic, though. No VIII. Down with VIII.

I really do hope Abrams can pull a rabbit out of the hat and largely retcon TLJ.

If he does, then he'll probably be hailed as a Luke Skywalker-esque hero who saved the franchise.

If he fails, then he might be struggling to get a director's job ever again. At the very least, I'll have to seriously reconsider my fandom, as I'm sure will many others.
