If this movie also flops is star wars officially dead then?

Disney and a female CEO managed to kill the most valuable IP in 5 years time.

I'm not sure the Star Wars franchise can survive non-episode movies. Even if Episode 9 does well, the next trilogy from Johnson is supposed to be its own thing separate from everything that's come before and I doubt it will succeed. That's not just because most people hated TLJ but also because the average audience members don't seem to care about Star Wars movies unless there's a Skywalker in there somewhere.

A lot of old school fans have already written it off. Meanwhile, Daisy Ridley said she wasn't interested in doing any more SW movies after Episode 9 so any fans of the sequel trilogy won't have much to look forward to. It's weird that Disney spent all this time to build up new characters we're supposed to care about, only to cast them aside for yet another new set of characters.

Ryan with an I's move trilogy was cancelled last i heard.

Oh, well, there's some good news.

Fett and the Obi-Wan movies have been put on hold as well. What's even left? Jon Faveraeu is supposed to have a TV show in the SW universe. The Game of Thrones guys have something in the works as well if I recall.

reply

i predict all of them will get cancelled.

It wouldn't surprise me. In another ten years we'll get a full 100% reboot or something.

While I would never have countenanced a reboot prior to TLJ, I have to admit that I’m not so averse now. Something radical needs to happen to save the franchise, that’s for sure
