WTF did I just watch???!!
Realistically, you watched a movie that is less of a "cohesive narrative" and more like "a bunch of stuff that happened."
I really don't think Rian Johnson knew what he wanted to do with the story. That's why it resulted in a collection of subtractive and destructive plot occurrences without any true concepts behind them, and no confident direction for the overall story.
Then he compensates for that with a few interesting but admittedly gimmicky "big scenes," and a whole boatload of tone-deaf, out-of-place humor.
It's like half-assing a book report in school, but you never read the book in the first place. You have to turn SOMETHING in to the teacher, you know?
