Rogue One might be somewhere between 7 and the prequels. Sure it has much better SW vibes than the preqs, but it's more of a fan service movie than an original installment.
In itself 7 was pretty good, but after 8 i don't know how much i could appreciate it in the future.
Also, the prequel order is more of an originality/ production rating of mine. Though the movies were more enjoyable each time, the production got messy, rushed and cgi driven.

Though to be honest, parts of II is better than I give it credit for here, and so is VI. I could have been happy like this, too.

I didn't include RO, Clone Wars, or Rebels (or 78 Holiday Special). I like the idea of RO as a standalone. I liked Clone Wars better than any prequel movie. I didn't see enough Rebels to judge it.

I thought VII was just a fanservice movie. It was all secret handshakes and backslaps to SW fanbois. I am one, and was stoked to see it, but SW and I have fallen out since the Thrawn trilogy and all that canon was sh!tcanned by Disney without any furhter though.

A poster said: "VIII third place?" Look, I saw ROTJ when it came out in the theaters (the first time) so SW was a lot of my childhood. AND IT WAS ONLY 3 MOVIES (the greatest 3 movies ever, to me at the time, only Indiana Jones came close) After 7 official sequels spanning 31 years, a movie can get crushed under the weight of it's own history. It's not the movie I wanted, but taken for its own merits, it is much better than any of the prequels. Maybe it and ROTJ are tied, but only maybe.
