Do people even like Star Wars anymore?

Be honest. And yes, I know they make tons of money, but so does the Trump family, and we all hate them. What I'm asking is whether Star Wars has just become a thing that happens once a year that everyone sees because that's what's expected and it's necessary if you want to be part of the conversation for the next couple of weeks. I mean, honestly...the movies just aren't good, and they haven't been good in roughly 34 years. From a storytelling perspective, it's increasingly hard to argue otherwise. Can you, deep in your heart, say that you still love Star Wars?

I love the OT. Now even more than ever!

Love President Trump, love star Wars. Unfortunately, both seem to get a lot of hate from small minded individuals who fail to see the big picture.

I love Star Wars and I grew up with it. I watch the movies over and over, I read the books and love talking to people about the philosophies of it or just guessing what’s going to happen in the next movie. It’s a good stress reliever for me and a good, fun escape from reality!

I was not really loving Star Wars when TFA was announced. Wasn't excited for it at all. Which felt odd, because I used to be a huge Star Wars fan.

Saw TFA, was underwhelmed. Started hearing about Rogue One. Seemed very uninteresting. Watched Rogue One and loved it. Fully restored my excitement for Star Wars.

I actually enjoyed TLJ more than TFA. Have my gripes with it, but overall better than TFA for me. Rogue One is my favorite by far though.

Yes, Rogue One was by and far Disney’s best attempt at a Star Wars film. I won’t argue with that.

Trump is the greatest president since Reagan, I hate SW though which is sad because after ROTS I loved it.

MAGA

There are no real star wars movies after ROTS.

I never really cared for it. Would watch if on tv, but never got the fandom about it. I love Sci-Fi but not this kind of Sci-Fi.

I find the same elements of SW in Dune [albeit with other names]. If you want a futuristic story about guys with special powers that fight an evil political empire for freedom in a generational war that makes the heroes turn to villains and vice-versa and has sand planets, water planets, et all... that's Dune. It's all there [and to those who don't know, Dune predates SW - 1965 - and is the most read sci-fi novel to this day]

I just finished reading Dune last month. I enjoyed the big picture, but couldn’t bring myself to care much for any individual character, especially Paul. That said, I’m very excited to see what Denis Villeneuve does with the upcoming film, since Blade Runner 2049 was the first 10/10 film for me since There Will Be Blood.

Dune is very complex. At times Frank Herbert seems to lose perspective in favor of minor things, and that spoils the reading a fair bit. Many irrelevant things there as well. But - like you say - it's the big picture that truly resonates.
