WHY did ____ die?

why did Luke die?

Funny at first didn't even think he had died..was only when Rey said he had I was like 'oh..guess he died then'

reply

Perhaps the effort of projecting a near physical copy of himself to a distant planet exhausted him so much that he decided to transfer his life to the higher Force world (just speculating).

reply

Is it possible the light sabre hits he took from Ren killed him? Like The Matrix you die in there and you die for real

reply

He got sick from the awful screenplay and lost the will to act. ;)

reply

Just like his mother.

reply

Yup. Must be hereditary. :)

reply

:)

reply

Did you want him to live forever??? Mark Hamil is 66 and not in the best of shape....probably for the best they gave his character closure...

reply

Because after 20 years of shutting himself off from The Force, he completely opened himself up to it and became one with it, thereby fulfilling his 20-year quest for peace of mind and death. His death was not a tragedy, but as with Obi-Wan, a fulfillment and an ascent to a higher plane of existence.

Any other questions?

And then there's poor Qwi-Gon Jinn who never disappeared to became one with the force, unlike Yoda, Luke, and Obi-Wan. His corpse burned.

reply

Qui-Gon did become One With The Force even though he died a violent death, Yoda told Obi-Wan that he'd teach him now to "commune with your old master" at the end of RotS.

And didn't he make a ghostly cameo at the end of the rejiggered ROTJ?

reply

He was clearly having trouble trying to defecate on the mountain and over strained himself.

reply

That's what happens when you don't eat soluble fibre.
