Snoke vs Darth Maul

Which was a more disappointing death?

Hmmm, Maul should have survived the trilogy, as should Snoke, so it's a tough call. I'd say Snoke just because he's supposed to be the ultimate bad guy of this trilogy.

Yeah...I touched on this in my good bad ugly review...think I referred to it a relegating Snoke to the likes of maul...something along those lines. When the flunky dies early...who cares? When the king pin dies...how can you not care?

Maul was SO cool! I couldn't believe that they knocked him off in the first movie.

I had nothing invested in Snoke. Since he is CGI, his being a hologram in "Force Awakens" only emphasized that he was CGI. So, when we got to "Last Jedi" I was only focused on how well (or not well) his CGI was done. And, when he started to just redo the taunting that Palpatine did in "Return" ("your fleet is lost, there is no hope, join the Dark Side") I was so glad that he was cut in half. Loved that!

i hated Snoke in TFA, but thought the cgi character was well done in TLJ

The CGI was very good. I agree. The eyes, the way the neck muscles tightened and moved when he was getting worked up were well done. But, I found myself focusing on the CGI work instead of the character.

I expected there to be more of a backstory into Snoke this time around, especially before the character died, but to just do him like that made no sense to me. I kinda figured Maul would be a one and done as he just felt like he was there to assist and not be any type of lead villain. Plus he got a great fight scene before his death.

I'm trying to go for an engaging, funny youtube channel so, if you have the time, take a look. Hope you enjoy what you see and if you have any thoughts or criticisms, i'd love to hear them. Thanks in advance. A review of the movie here-https://youtu.be/nerCnafPUm8

I think Johnson just had a "screw it" sensibility to this, and thought to himself, "who cares about Snoke" and just randomly killed him off.

Snoke's Death was far more disappointing! There was so much purposely placed mystery surrounding Snoke. He was an interesting character that many wanted to know more about and he was killed off purposefully premature and in a cheap manor non the less. All simply because Johnson had no idea what to do with an open ended mystery character.

Darth Maul while really cool and fun to watch had nothing really interesting to add to the plot. He was introduced as an agent of muscle caring out deeds for his master. Darth Maul got the duel of fates which is one of the best action scenes off all time while Snoke got a cheap anticlimactic slice. We never got to see what his power entailed while we saw all everthing Maul had to offer.

I could go on forever on how stupid Snokes death was while at the same time how awesome Maul's whole scene including his death is. The thing that kills me the most is the fact Maul was set up to die in the first movie, he was never meant to be anything more. While Snoke was clearly set up to be a character that was going to be fleshed out.
