Meryl Streep replacing Carrie Fisher to complete the story.

They will not use CG to replace Carrie Fisher. They will either tweak the end of Episode VIII so that Leia dies, write her out at the start of Episode IX, or recast her to complete the story.

Meryl Streep.

She was a decades-long friend of Carrie Fisher. She pretty much played her already in Postcards From The Edge, based on Fisher's book and screenplay. She's also a phenomenally good actress and within the right apparent age range to play Leia. And when I say Streep and Fisher were good friends, I mean they were soul mates, and I don't doubt, to honour the character and her friend, and bring closure to the story, that Meryl Streep would do it.

How would you feel about this. And if not Meryl Streep, who would you be happy with completing the role?

this would be great news especially considering that Ep 9 Leia is suppose to have a much bigger part in the movie. Don't be silly and kill her off just replace her with a really great actress, the fans will get over it. If not Streep there are tons of really good actresses her age who can do the part.

reply

Any rumors on what Leia was supposed to do? Personally I want her to become Rey's mentor and parental figure and queen of the Galaxy at the wrap-up... but probably none of that will happen.

Last I heard, they planned to rewrite the script with no Leia.

reply

Ew not her. She hates America and football. She would ruin Star Wars forever

reply

She would ruin Star Wars forever

That already happened pal.

reply

I think Meryl Streep is like the Empire. She doesn't hate America. She loves it the way it is because America has constant war for Israel, and freedom for her friend Harvey Weinstein.

What she hates is the Rebel Alliance who want to restore freedom to the Republic. She is mad at America because she is spoiled and although she is given what she wants, it is never enough.

reply

No one can replace Fisher.

reply

No, a lot of people can replace her.

reply

Well...anyone can replace her. It doesn't mean it's a good idea (which it isn't).

reply

No it is a good idea, its actually the best idea by far. Do youthink its better idea to kill her off and ruin the storyline that was built up in Ep 7 and 8. Its absolutely insane that people would be pissed off if they replaced her, I rather have a good story with a replacement then one that felt really off because the actor died. And there would be absolutely nothing disrespectful about replacing her.

Built up? Leia had a very minor role in 7. I don't know why you mentioned 8. We don't know the story for it yet. All we know is that Carrie completed her work on the movie and it's been confirmed by Abrams that she isn't being cut out of it.

reply

Everyone said the same thing about Ford.

reply

I'm not saying she wouldn't do a good job. Hell she might make a great Han Solo for all we know but it wouldn't seem proper.

Whatever you are, be a good one.

reply

proper? They just CGI'd Leia and Peter Cushing and to me it was absolutely insane that they couldn't just bring in a real human being(even though it was a real actor underneath) to do it. I'm gonna bet anything that it is crucial former to be alive in ep. 9 after we see ep 8.

That's the most idiotic thing I've read in a long time. Carrie Fisher can NOT and will NOT be recast. General/Princess Leia Organa is too iconic to even consider such a stupid idea. They'll more than likely kill her off towards the ending of episode 8.

reply

She survives Episode VIII as it stands. Unless they reshoot to kill her at the end, she will appear in Episode IX.

This is not a rumour founded on nothing.

What you just said is one of the most idiotic things ever said. Mel Gibson played Mad Max which is easily one of the most iconic roles ever and they did a fantastic job replacing him with Tom Hardy . Life goes on

reply

That was a reboot. This is not. Totally different scenario.

reply

Yeah, it would feel completely jolting to have Leia in 5 episodes and a pretender in 1 episode.

reply

it was not a roboot.

reply

it was not a roboot.

You are correct. It was not a "roboot."

The most recent Mad Max film was most decidedly a reboot of the franchise. Even Miller called it a "re-visiting" to the post-apocalyptic world of Mad Max.

So, like I said, totally different scenario.

reply

Seriously? Mad Max is not as iconic as Princess Leia and if you think so then you weren't born into the right generation

reply

I've just been hanging out with real movie fans of all generations.

reply

So his Han Solo and making a movie about him, with the main lead not resembling Han Solo from OT, which is iconic too.

reply

Not the same thing. Different time period not involving the other original actors from the OT.

reply

Meryl Streep is probably a good choice but it is a bad idea conceptually speaking. You can get away with that in the Marvel universe (or DC universe) because their universes are constantly rebooting. And you can pretend that there's alternate universes and alternate timelines. That kind of stuff doesn't fly in SW! So whoever they cast will seem like an imposter.

No

reply

Yes... unless it's a character that has their face covered like R2D2 or Vader. And if I'm not right about that then answer this... why didn't they just simply recast Han Solo with a different actor than Harrison Ford instead of killing him off because Harrison didn't want to do the character anymore?

Don't be stupid. Caitlyn Gender looks exactly like Carrie Fisher. She deserves the role because she's Stunning and Brave.
