The Burger King scene pissed me off

Obviously Burger King paid for this particular scene. But to have the lead who plays a gourmet star chef sit there and characterize the burgers as real food, show the burger and take it apart and actually compare it to french peasant food really pissed me off!! A chef would never do that. Nor would he ever eat at Burger King.

Chefs eat at burger king. Idk where u got the idea that they dont eat fast food. My bf is a chef btw

reply

They must, by any sense of fairness, eat only the pretentious garbage they create for a living. Must contain asparagus, orchid flower petals, and be boiled down in some "reduction sauce."

reply

Any chef who says he wouldn't eat at Burger King is in serious denial and very likely has Whoppers hidden in strategic places.

reply

Actually, that scene is rather realistic. Top, Master chefs do not eat the pretentious garbage they produce for their wealthy, super elite, clients. Instead, they get off work and run to the nearest McDonalds or Burger King, which tastes far better and satisfies their hunger.

Anthony Bourdain did say the chicken mcnugget is the most disgusting thing he's ever eaten, even after eating snakes and insects in various Third World countries.

reply

The thing that not necessarily pissed me off but I thought was totally untrue is when Adam says fast food joints are always consistent. They aren't sometimes you don't get all the fillings or very little, sometimes the fries are under cooked overcooked or cold.

Bourdain does love his In n Out, though, rightfully so: https://www.buzzfeed.com/maycie/anthony-bourdain-has-declared-in-n-out-his-favorite-la-resta

It's junk food. Everyone has a taste for junk food every now and then whether it's McDonald's, Burger King, Cheetos, or beef jerky. Especially if you're an American.

reply

yes, i understand burger king's royal elitism some find annoying. 

Junk food is very carefully tuned to the exact pleasure centers that make food addictive. Endorphins are endorphins however you cook.

Gordon Ramsay has praised Burger King for having superior burgers to McDonald's. He described McDonald's burgers as lard between two pieces of bread.

By grilling the meat they get rid of a lot of fat that would otherwise be in the meat.

Chef's usually come from impoverished, working-class backgrounds. They simply aren't the pampered pricks some people assume them to be.

After grinding it out all day long the last thing they want to do is some more cooking at the end of the day. Cereal, a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, or a fast burger from some place is what they usually go for if they are hungry.

reply

actually burger king is a lot more "healthier" than Mcdonalds.
their food is a little less processed

If you're a chef that cooks ALL THE TIME, you'll want to take a break and have somebody else make your food. Also eating fast food would one feel normal so to speak.
