Did the music throw anyone else off?

I thought the movie was enjoyable, but not special in any way. One of the things that took me out of the movie was the music. Don't get me wrong, I actually love pretty much every song that was on it, I just thought they seemed out of place and perhaps trying too much to recapture the magic of The Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack or something.

Did it jive for you guys?

"trying to recapture the magic of the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack"
That's exactly what it is

No. I thought the music didn't make much sense.

Studies show that the music that lingers with us... that we remain the most fond of... is the music that we listened to in our teens and 20s. Young Adam was 12, so the music that would eventually be nostalgic to him as a middle-aged adult would be the music of 2025 to 2040 with a few maybe reaching back to maybe 2020.

The soundtrack though were tunes from decades ago. It's doubtful that older Adam would be nostalgic for tunes that were 80 to 90 years old.

Clearly the music was added to generate some nostagia for boomers and, maybe their kids. So, yes, it was a calculated Guardians move.

Considering that modern music has sucked for almost 15 years now and probably wont improve anytime soons. I wouldn't be surprised if kids were still listen from shit from 1960's in 2050. A future where people think Justin Biebier, Beyonce, Kanye West, and Taylor Swift are the height musical artistry. Is nothing but a fucking Hellscape. Frankly there a lot of music i wasn't around for that quite enjoy. In the 80's a lot of movies that featured the artist of the day. Now a days, if they do use modern pop music at all. They shove it to end credits to get everyone out of the theater.
